Description of crocheting a hat with ears

The bunny's hat leaves no one indifferent. And I will tell you how to knit it.

We will need: Knitting needles No. 3 and No. 2, Nazar “Baby” and Pekhorka “Children’s whim” yarn, tapestry needle.

A caterpillar cord of the required length (about 12 cm) is knitted from pink yarn. Start the ears of the hat with the remaining 3 loops on the hook. The left and right ears are knitted symmetrically. We transfer 3 stitches to the knitting needle and knit with garter stitch, on both sides in every 2nd row. add 7 times 1 p. = 17 p. On these 17 p. knit straight 20 r., then on the left side add 11 p., knit 5 r. on these 28 sts, after which leave the loops. Then, between both parts, cast on new 54 sts = 110 sts and knit 40 r. in forward and reverse directions.

In the next row, decrease 10 times by 2 stitches, knitting the knit stitch together, every 9 stitches = 100 stitches. Repeat these decreases 4 more times in every 4th row, then repeat in every 2nd row until there are no more left. only 10 stitches. In the next row, knit 2 stitches together along the entire row, pulling the remaining 5 stitches together with a working thread. Sew the back seam.

Bunny ears:

They consist of 2 parts, fluffy and smooth.

For a fluffy one, cast on 5 stitches on needles No. 3 and knit in garter stitch, on both sides in every 2nd row. add 7 times 1 p. = 19 p. Then knit without increasing 6 r. and begin to decrease 1 p. on each side in each r. until the number of loops is equal to 3. Knit these 3 stitches as one and pull the thread through.

For a smooth stitch, cast on 3 stitches on needles No. 2 and knit in stockinette stitch, on both sides in every 2nd row. add 5 times 1 p. = 13 p. Then knit without increasing 4 p. and begin to decrease 1 p. on each side in each r. until the number of loops is equal to 3. Knit these 3 stitches as one and pull the thread through.

Sew the fluffy and smooth parts of the ears, while the smooth part is sewn at a distance of 2.5 cm from the beginning of the fluffy ear. The ears are slightly tucked in (rolled into a tube) and sewn on at a distance of 2 cm from the top of the hat with the smooth side inward.

Knitted bunny hat

Hat “Bunny ears” on knitting needles for a baby aged 3-6 months.

Materials:

100 grams of white wool (100 grams/100 meters), Reynolds Andean Alpaca Regal wool is recommended.

25 grams of pink wool (25 grams/105 meters), AnnyBlattAngoraSuper wool recommended.

Circular knitting needles No. 5.

Knitting density:

16 stitches for 22 rows in a 10x10 cm square.

Operating instructions:

Cap: Set of loops:

For beginners: cast on 56 stitches using white wool.

For experienced knitters: To make a cast-on edge, cast on stitches in the following way: * cast on 3 stitches, slip 1 stitch on the right needle and pull 1 stitch from the left needle through it, return the resulting loop to the left needle (you have 2 cast-on stitches) *Repeat until you have 56 stitches cast on. The result is a jagged, cast-on edge.

Knit the first row with knit stitches, continue knitting with knit stitch until the height of the fabric is 10 cm from the bottom edge (22 rows).

Decrease loops:

*knit 5 loops, knit the next two loops together*, repeat until the end of the row. You will have 48 stitches left.

One row without decreases.

*knit 4 loops, knit the next two loops together*, repeat until the end of the row. You will have 40 stitches left.

One row without decreases.

*knit 3 loops, knit the next two loops together*, repeat until the end of the row. You will have 32 loops left.

One row without decreases.

*knit 2 loops, knit the next two loops together*, repeat until the end of the row. You will have 24 loops left.

One row without decreases.

*knit 2 loops, knit the next two loops together*, repeat until the end of the row. You will have 18 stitches left.

One row without decreases.

Knit every two stitches together, you will have 9 stitches left.

Break the thread, pull it through the remaining 9 loops, tighten and fasten.

Bunny ears:

Cast on 12 stitches with white wool and immediately after them cast on 10 stitches with pink wool.

The outer side of the ear will be made with stockinette stitch from white wool, and the inner side of the ear will be slightly smaller in size and knitted with purl stitch. The inner part will be comfortably hidden inside the ear and will have a slightly different texture.

First row: (right side) purl 10 pink wool stitches and knit 12 white wool stitches.

Second row: (wrong side) purl 12 white wool stitches and knit 10 pink wool stitches.

Continue knitting in this manner and knit 12 rows high. Don't forget to cross the threads when moving from one thread to another, then you won't need to sew the white and pink parts together.

Decrease loops: (pink) knit two loops together, then 6 loops, then knit the next two loops together, (white) knit two loops together, then 8 loops, then knit the next two loops together.

Knit the next row without decreasing (if you see a knit stitch, knit it as a knit stitch, if you see a purl loop, knit it as a purl).

Continue knitting in the same pattern (decreasing 1 outer loop in one row on both sides on the white and pink fabric and knitting 1 row without decreasing) until you have 1 pink loop and 2 white ones left.

After this, cut the pink thread, leaving about 15 cm in length. Pull the end of the thread through the remaining loop to complete the pink part of the eyelet. Cut the white thread, leaving about 30 cm in length. Thread the end of the thread through the needle and pull it through the two remaining loops.

To finish: Use the remaining end of the white thread to stitch the side seam. To make it, fold the eyelet in half and, starting from the top, sew the eyelet.

Final assembly:

Tuck all the loose ends of the threads inside. Fold each ear in half with the pink side facing in and sew the bottom edges of the ear to keep it in shape. Place the front edge of the ear about 5 rows from the very top of the hat and sew the ears along the seams that were created by decreasing the stitches on the hat.

Undoubtedly, a hat is an indispensable attribute of any person’s wardrobe, including a child. But, as you know, not all children like to wear them. And their reasons for this are very diverse: it’s hot, itchy, they don’t like it, Vasya (Petya, Dasha) is more beautiful... Therefore, we suggest you knit with your own hands a hat that will suit your whim in all respects.

Before we begin knitting the demi-season “Bunny” hat, we will prepare all the necessary tools and materials, namely: hook No. 2, any yarn intended for knitting things for children (not prickly) in two colors - blue and light blue, a needle with floss threads , a centimeter tape for measuring the size of the baby’s head to determine the depth of the hat and its circumference, ready-made embroidered eyes, “Jeans” or iris yarn for knitting a nose.

From blue “baby yarn” we cast on four to five air loops.

We connect the first and last loop of the knitted chain into a ring using a connecting post.

We will knit the base of the hat with double crochets, so to move to the second row we knit three chain stitches, after which we knit a row of double crochets in a circle, in each loop we additionally knit one more loop, that is, in each loop of the chain there should be 2 single crochet stitch.

We knit the second row according to a similar pattern as the first, only in this case we make additions every two or three stitches.

The remaining rows are knitted in exactly the same way. In total, you should have seven rows (for a hat for a five year old with a head circumference of 52 cm). If the baby’s head circumference is smaller, then these rows should also be smaller.

The circle you knit should cover the top of the baby's head. Only after this we will begin to “roll up” the hat in order to move on to its sides. In order to “roll” it, you just need to stop adding stitches, that is, do not knit extra double crochets. Just keep in mind that in this case your hat will “roll up” more smoothly compared to if you knitted the base with single crochets. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the size of the hat matches the size of the child’s head.

Next, as usual, we knit single crochet stitches in a circle, “fastening” the rows with a connecting stitch. The depth of the cap should be sufficient, that is, the line of the edge of the cap should be at least at the level of the temples.

We tear off the thread.

Since the hat is for autumn and spring, ears should be made so that in windy weather the baby’s ears can close. To do this, fold the base in half and use a felt-tip pen to mark the point where the “ears” of the hat should begin. If it is possible to try on a hat on a child, then this point will be approximately at the level of the temples. We mark the obtained points on both sides. In the photograph, the indicated point is shown with a hook.

We take the base of the hat from the front side and knit a row of double crochets (20 loops) from the point marked for the “ears”.

We knit 3 air loops for lifting, turn the base and again knit a row of double crochets. The next 6 rows are knitted similarly. The number of rows may vary depending on the desired length of the “ears”.

We do the same with the other ear.

The hare's ears are knitted a little differently: we cast on 40 chain stitches.

We make 3 more loops for lifting and knit double crochets first to the end of the row of the chain, then on the last loop we knit 5 double crochets, which will allow us to move to the opposite side of the chain, and then we tie the row with double crochets to the end.

We turn the ear, knit loops for lifting, and then repeat the steps for knitting the first row and in the second row, only we add loops at the tip of the ear 3 times - at the very tip and two on the sides.

We knit the remaining rows in the same way. The more rows you get, the wider the hare's ear will be.

The inner part of the eyelet is knitted similarly, only in this case the width of the part should be one row less than the outer part of the eyelet.

Sew the smaller piece to the larger one using a needle and thread.

Now we wrap the lower corners of the ear to the front side of the part, slightly catching the edges, and then carefully sew the edges together with thread.

We do the same with the second ear.

We knit the bunny’s nose like this: from the “Jeans” yarn we cast on five air loops, and then we tie the resulting chain in a circle with single crochets, making additions at the ends so that the oval remains flat.

One, two, three, four, five - the bunny went out for a walk!..

I suggest knitting these wonderful hats with ears for babies. This baby hat can be knitted or crocheted. The finished hat can be decorated with a knitted flower or bow. Believe me, such a charming headdress will not leave anyone indifferent!

Well, let's arm ourselves with knitting needles and a crochet hook and turn little fidgets into naughty bunnies?
