We sew children's sandals, master class with a pattern. Making leather sandals DIY children's sandals for boys

Shoes are very difficult. We probably wouldn’t risk trying to make shoes or boots. But sandals are different. They have a frivolous character and a frivolous outlook on life. They are not so scary to take on. We tried and we succeeded! Today we'll show you how to make amazing handmade sandals from cheap flip flops and scraps of leather.

We will need:

  • Cheap flip flops;
  • Pieces of leather (two colors);
  • Scissors;
  • Glue (the glue should remain elastic after drying, try to find special shoe glue);
  • Hole punch for leather;
  • Sewing kit and needle;
  • Leather lace.

Step by step instructions

  1. Remove the straps from the flip-flops and leave only the sole;
  2. If they are too big or wide, take sandals that fit you and cut the desired shape from the sole;
  3. Place the soles on a piece of leather of the main color and cut pieces of leather to the shape of the soles;
  4. Cut pieces of leather approximately 8 by 20 cm, this will be the top of your shoes. The exact fabric size will depend on the size and width of your foot, so it's best to cut a slightly larger piece and try it on;
  5. Cut holes on the sides of the soles (the width of the top), insert the top into the holes. Place the part at an angle so that the hole on the finger side is smaller, glue the parts together;
  6. Now cut strips of leather 2 cm wide and repeat the previous steps. Place the strips at an angle, taking into account that the back will hook onto your heel;
  7. Glue the finished part to the sole of the slipper;
  8. Take a leather hole punch and make two rows of holes in the middle of the top. Pass strong thread through the holes and pull (you can skip this step if you don't like the way it looks);
  9. Now make two holes on the back of the strap and pass the leather cord through them;
  10. Make sure it is long enough to fit comfortably into your sandals. The lace is tied at the back and tightened to fit. Your sandals are ready!

“Gladiators” are one of the trends of this season. Let's make ourselves a pair for the summer!

Gladiator sandals and tie sandals are everywhere these days. And this is not surprising: such shoes are the main hit of the season, along with platform sandals. As always happens, what is fashionable is obscenely expensive and sells out so quickly that you don’t even have time to blink an eye!

If you haven’t been able to buy “gladiators” yet, we suggest making them yourself. Of course, such sandals will not last long. But who knows, maybe next season they will just go out of fashion?

Method 1

The easiest way to make gladiator sandals is to tie leather laces to existing sandals.

Sandals with a T-strap are best. All you have to do is choose the laces to match the shoes, thread them through the strap and tie them around your feet.

This is ideal if you need gladiator sandals as part of a 70s summer look. For example, if you are going to a music festival or theme party.

Method 2

This method requires a little more work. As a basis, you can take flip-flops or old sandals, from which you don’t mind cutting off the straps.

So, you will need:

  • Sandal base (optional).
  • Elastic band to make fastenings for straps.
  • Leather cord for straps. The width depends entirely on your taste. If desired, you can use two cords of different thicknesses at the same time. The only requirement is that the material must be soft and not rub the skin.

1. Strap loops

If the base is not fastened for straps, you will have to make them yourself. The optimal number of loops is five (1 in the front center and 2 on each side).

Make holes with an awl and pull elastic through them to match the sole.

2. Thread the straps through the loops

Before cutting the laces, thread them through the eyelets and tie them around your legs. Chances are you'll need more cord than you thought!

Cut the lace to size.

3. Be more creative

If desired, you can use a thin gauze, ribbon or braid as straps. The main thing is that you like it!

SEWING CHILDREN'S SANDALS, MASTER CLASS WITH PATTERN

Do you love to sew and can’t imagine your life without a sewing machine? Then you will certainly appreciate the idea of sewing such beautiful sandals for your child! Agree: this idea is a real curiosity, because it’s rare to see handmade sewn shoes. There is nothing complicated here: you just need to cut out the necessary parts, put everything together and stitch.

But special attention needs to be paid to the materials: the top should be soft, and the sole, naturally, quite rigid. If desired, you can even sew a soft underliner here (in the world - “instep support” or “pad”), so everything is in your hands!

To create such shoes you will need: thick cotton for the upper part (you can also add non-woven fabric or adhesive calico), rubberized material for the sole (preferably with stoppers so that the baby does not slip in the sandals), threads, a border in the color of the fabric, Velcro, scissors , paper and pencil for the template, and tailoring pins.

So, how to sew children's sandals?
Use the pattern template, which is located at the end of this master class. Place the paper on the monitor, trace the contours of the parts you need, and then cut them out, adding 5 mm seam allowances on all sides. Then place the templates on the fabric, pin and cut out.

Make sure that all details are cut in a mirror image.

If you decide to use non-woven fabric or adhesive calico, trace the templates on this material as well. After cutting out, the interlining must be folded with the corresponding cotton parts and ironed together. The hot temperature bonds the interlining to the fabric, so you should end up with a dense material.

These are the details you should get for a pair of sandals. Two fabric soles, two straps and two parts that will be located above the toes.

Attach the Velcro to the strap. To the part that sticks out to the side, you need to sew one part of the Velcro (softer), and to the opposite corner - the second part (such as bristles). The same thing applies to the second strap.

A very important part of the master class is processing the edges of the material. The point is that the fabric (especially if you have sealed it with calico or non-woven fabric) will be quite stiff and can rub the baby’s feet. So those edges that will come into contact with the baby’s delicate skin need to be trimmed with a border. It is best to choose a soft material for this purpose, aimed specifically at children's clothing or shoes. Fold the border over so it covers both sides of the edge and stitch in the locations shown in the photo. The same sides where the border is not stitched will be sewn with the sole.

Sew the straps and upper parts of the sandals to the fabric sole.

Using the same patterns, cut out two soles from rubber material. Place them under fabric sandals and secure them with pins. Sew a border around the entire perimeter of the edge.

DIY children's sandals are ready! And here is the pattern for the details of these shoes! Increase it according to your child's shoe size.

Shoes for girls are an eternal problem for mothers. The baby's leg is growing quickly, but this is not the most important thing. The formation of her gait and posture depends on the comfort of the shoes in which her daughter walks and explores the world around her. In order to protect your child’s running, walking and other joys of movement, we have prepared for you a wonderful master class on how to sew children’s sandals with your own hands.

Required materials and tools:

  • pieces of felt;
  • artificial leather (vinyl), which must be soft enough, otherwise it will have to be stretched later;
  • sewing materials.

Making the sole

To make the sole of our children's sandals with your own hands, use the shoes your daughter wears as a template. Cut out two identical but symmetrical ovals from leather and one piece from felt. All details are parts of one sandal. Place the three pieces together so that the felt is between the vinyl and the vinyl pieces are facing out in both cases. Sew the sole blank in several places. To prevent the layers from shifting, the first line must be made in the center.

Making an accordion

Then cut two strips of vinyl to create a strap that will go over your toes. Sew them along both long edges together. For the center of our strap, cut a small strip. Sew it on both sides. Now take a large strip and fold it in half, edges up, as shown in the photo. And then fold the edges one more time, in the other direction, so that you get a beautiful accordion.

Wrapping the accordion

Wrap a narrow strip of leather around the middle of the accordion, bringing the ends of the strip to the wrong side. From the wrong side, cut off the excess from the strip and sew the edges. The result is a curved part of the top of the sandal, which, thanks to its curvature, will perfectly hug the child's foot.

Making a strap for the back

Now it's time to work on the strap that will hold the back of the foot, preventing the shoe from falling off. To do this, cut out four strips of leather and cut a piece from a wide elastic band. We place the end of the elastic band between two strips of leather and sew two seams for security. We do the same with the other ends of the elastic band. Be sure to ensure that the right side of the leather is on the outside on both sides of the strap.

Sew the strap and attach it in place

Sew the straps around the entire perimeter. Now comes the crucial moment - you need to correctly place the straps, especially those that will wrap around the leg above the heel. If it fits tightly to the foot, the shoe may cause discomfort for your child. If it’s weak, the children’s handmade sandals will come off.

Sew the details

Place your daughter's foot on the sole of the future sandals and attach both straps to it. Mark the required length of the strap and cut off the excess. Don't forget to make marks on the wide strap where the wrapping strap will be sewn. Open the seams at these points and sew on the strap. Now place the strap on the top of the sole. To correctly determine the junction of the sole with the belt, try the sandals on the girl again. Connect all the parts and sew on a sewing machine at the very edge of the sole. Trim off any excess from the strap so that it ends exactly at the edge of the sole.

DIY children's sandals are ready!

Now we will process the outer edges of the sole; to do this, we cut out a strip of leather along the bias with a width that will allow it to be folded in half lengthwise. Fold the strip in half and place it over the edge of the sole, covering the raw edges. Sew this strip, taking the lower part of the edging. To ensure that leather bias tape lays neatly, pull it slightly with even force. Trim the excess so that the ends of the bias tape, cut at an angle, overlap the beginning by a few centimeters. Repeat all these steps to make your own baby sandals for the second leg. Ready!
