What does dry body oil mean? Dry oils are a winter pleasure! Application of dry oil

The word “dry” in the name of the product appeared due to the fact that this cosmetics (although it is an oil and is made on the basis of oils) does not make the skin and hair shiny and does not form a sticky film, that is, both the skin and hair remain dry. The phenomenon is explained by the fact that only light oils are included in cosmetics.

What is the trick of using dry oils?

Typically, manufacturers add up to eight to ten different types of oils into dry oil formulas. natural oils(each brand has its own favorites), but they do not play the key role in the composition of the product. The main batch is cyclomethicone, a substance consisting of new generation unmodified silicone. It is thanks to this component that dry oils can work wonders. Cyclomethicone molecules are large, so they do not penetrate the skin and hair, but form a film on their surface.

And in such a cunning way that all the “benefits” contained in the dry oil end up under the film and are gradually absorbed by the skin and hair. This is where cosmetics have such a powerful caring effect.

For face, body and hair

The versatility of using cosmetics is also impressive: dry oils can be applied to all areas of the body and hair of any type. There are many recipes for use. But cosmetologists say that products work most effectively on damp hair and skin (after a shower). In this case, water molecules do not evaporate from the surface, but are covered with a film of cyclomethicone and are gradually absorbed by the skin and hair. A prolonged moisturizing effect is obtained with this

How to use dry hair oil?

The advantage of cosmetics is that it can be used on both wet and dry strands, depending on the desired effect.

  • On wet hair: after washing, dry your hair with a towel and spray the oil from a distance of 20 cm (if you have a spray) or rub a couple of drops in your palms and run your hands through the curls (if you use cosmetics without a sprayer). Comb your hair and start styling. This method of applying dry oil is suitable when curls need intense nutrition and hydration - the oil works both as a leave-in treatment and as a styling product.
  • On dry: The application procedure is the same. The result is that the hair instantly becomes manageable, elastic, shiny and soft to the touch, and static tension goes away.

Only for the roots!

Many women complain that after using dry oil, their hair loses volume and looks untidy. To avoid this, apply the product at a distance of three to five centimeters from the roots.

The dry oils market is very interesting for cosmetics brands in terms of profit . Almost all brands are fighting to capture at least some part of it. Some experts claim that Every 6 seconds one bottle is sold worldwide dry oil. And Nuxe, the unrivaled leader in this market, says it sells 16 million bottles per year .

Properties of dry oils

Brands claim that dry oils are ideal for moisturizing the skin, helping restore hair structure and generally being a wonderful remedy for all cosmetic ills. And most importantly, they do not leave greasy marks on the skin. Not like pure oils...

What is it really?

Traditional dry oils are a mixture of several oils.

They are based on esterified oils , mainly caprylyl/capric triglyceride, to which purified vegetable oils.

In mine I talked about this type of oil. In the composition of creams and other products that are emulsions, the use of esterified oils is justified. But using them in their pure form, even if pure oils are used in combination with them, does not make sense. The result is dummy products .

Nux oil

They deserve special attention because it is Nuxe brought to market and was able to popularize dry oils . The very first oil Huile Prodigieuse appeared in 1991.

Initially, the oil included a cocktail of silicones and synthetic components. But in 2012, driven by growing public concern about the naturalness of cosmetics, Nuxe revised the composition of its oil.

Now included Huile prodigieuse includes the whole set of esterified oils : coco-caprylate/caprate, dycaprylyl ether, caprylyc/capric triglyceride. And vegetable oils of borage, argan, magnolia, almond, macadamia nut, camellia, sunflower, as well as vitamin E. The new composition allows Nuxe to claim that their oil is 98.1% natural ingredients.

With this composition, you can’t expect miracles from this oil. All it can do is create a protective layer on the skin.

But this oil has two features that made it iconic . And they concern not its cosmetic properties, but its consumer qualities. This is an addictive product that is pleasant to use.

Firstly, This oil is pleasant to apply to the skin . It is easily absorbed and leaves a velvety feeling on the skin.

And secondly, aroma. It really can't be compared to anything. It is light, sensual and at the same time sunny, and evokes memories of the sea, summer and holidays... It has long been proven that smell is one of the most important stimuli influencing how a person makes decisions. It is the aroma of Nuxe oil that is its main advantage. And its popularity is so great that the brand has released a perfume called Prodigieux le Parfum.

And so that consumers do not relax, Nuxe periodically releases limited, customized editions of its oil.

There are a huge variety of dry oils. Among those that I had to try:

Huile Fabuleuse by L'Occitane en Province

I avoid this brand. But I received the oil as a gift. Therefore, it was a sin not to try it.

Cost: about 26 euros per 100 ml

The base of this oil is sunflower oil . Plus everything is the same esterified oils caprylyc/capric triglyceride and coco-caprylate/caprate. And shea butter, carrot, date tree and baobab.

This oil is not lightweight, it is difficult to absorb and leaves the skin oily, possibly due to the high sunflower oil content. Unlike Nuxe oil, it has a rather heavy aroma that is difficult to get rid of. But in principle, smell is a subjective matter.

Huile Divine by Caudalie

Cost: about 20 euros per 100 ml

Basically the same story. Esterified oils , including palm oil derivatives . And in addition to them, vegetable oils - primarily grape seeds (the brand obliges), sesame, shea butter, sunflower, hibiscus. And also vitamin E.

This oil is lighter than the previous one, but it is poorly absorbed and seems to slide on the skin. And the smell is quite heavy, not for everyone.

What makes dry oils successful?

All of the above brands give importance to sensory characteristics of its products, that is make them pleasant to use . And only then they adjust it to them beneficial features components used.

These sensory characteristics include: texture, color and smell . One of the tasks for brands is to ensure that during production, the products do not change their properties from batch to batch.

But when it comes to vegetable oils, their smell and color cannot be guaranteed. In addition, each oil has its own specific smell. To achieve a golden color, transparent texture and odorlessness, vegetable oils are subjected to purification, as a result of which they lose all the beneficial properties of pure oils .

Ultimately, dry oils can only create a film on the skin.

Dry oils in natural cosmetics

So, thanks to the use of esterified oils, brands achieve good absorption and that “dry” effect that consumers value so much. But also in the world natural cosmetics There are oils that can provide the same properties in their pure form. Among the oils that are absorbed quickly:

- grape seed oil - Vitis vinifera
- jojoba oil- Simmondsia chinensis
- macadamia oil - Macadamia ternifolia
- sesame oil - Sesamum indicum
- date tree oil - Balanites roxburghii

Compared to traditional dry oils, pure unrefined oils are truly beneficial. The only thing you have to sacrifice is the aroma.... But this also has its advantages. So, using perfumed oils for the face is quite difficult. The oily texture allows the scents to last longer. And if when used on the body a similar effect can be pleasant, then when applied to the face, in my opinion, this persistent smell is quite difficult to tolerate.

Hello self-care lovers!

Oil care is still at the peak of popularity among women. And all because oils are suitable for the care of the whole body and without any exceptions, and the results and effects are simply amazing! However, oils are different, you need to make the right choice based on your desires and functions/capabilities of the oil. There are universal oils, and there are targeted ones, for example, for hair, facial skin, massage, etc. But if you don’t want to understand all this rigmarole, then perfect choice will be towards a universal oil that can be used for anything and everything. I want to tell you about one of these options in my review.

Multi-purpose oil from Nuxe at one time made a lot of noise in the beauty industry, winning fans all over the world. Let's figure out whether the game is worth the candle, or is marketing taking over?!

Surely, many are interested in the question, why is the oil dry if it is liquid?! I also didn’t quite understand this “play on words” initially, but once I figured it out, everything turned out to be more than simple. Dry oil- this means that the composition contains light and natural oils, thanks to which the product is quickly absorbed, without leaving behind a greasy film (like heavier predecessors).

  • Description⬇︎

The French company Nuxe belongs to the luxury segment, famous not only for its innovative formulas, but also for its discreet, laconic and attractive design in product design.

Despite the miniature format, the packaging design is quite stylish and attractive, and in appearance, it is a smaller copy of the full-size version of the product (available in 10 ml, 50 ml and 100 ml).

I have the oil in a miniature version, 10 ml. For testing and getting to know the oil, this volume is more than enough.

Shelf life after opening is 12 months.

When talking about Nuxe oil, it is impossible to ignore the composition, because in fact, the whole trick is in the ingredients, which makes the oil not just multi-purpose, but also effective. The oil contains an invaluable vitamin E complex, as well as a set of seven valuable oils. By the way, since 2017, the oil has been produced in a new composition. Thanks to new formula, the oil has even greater benefits.

Contains at least 98.1% natural ingredients

Does not contain preservatives, silicones and mineral oils

Oil composition:

Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Dicaprylyl Ether, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Corylus Avellana (Hazel) Seed Oil, Camellia Oleifera Seed Oil, Parfum/Fragrance, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Ascorbic Acid, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Extract, Benzyl Salicylate, Linalool, Limonene, Citronellol, Geraniol, Benzyl Alcohol.

The bottle is made of translucent frosted glass.

Dispenser not available in miniature version. Of course, this is not very convenient when using, but in versions with a large volume, the bottle is equipped with a pump dispenser.

The lid screws on tightly, protecting the bottle from leaks.

Consistency compare with oil regular oil– liquid, but quite light. Has a golden hue.

Aroma The oil is amazing, even enchanting for me. It is clearly audible during use, and leaves a thin fragrant veil at the site of use (hair, skin). I love inhaling the aromas of this oil throughout the day, a kind of aromatherapy at any time and whenever you want. I can safely describe this scent as expensive, discreet, sophisticated and calming at the same time. Undoubtedly, this smell is pronounced, quite specific and not for everyone.

  • Application ✔️

So we get to the most important thing, namely, the options and methods of using the oil, of which there are many, both for one product:

For face and whole body

Can be used solo - on the whole body after a shower, sunbathing, hair removal; on certain dry areas of the body (elbows, heels, etc.); for face and body massage.

As an additional component, you can add a couple of drops of oil to your daily care products (cream, serum). While taking a bath, adding a couple of drops to the water can soften your skin and enjoy aromatherapy.

The oil is completely absorbed, leaving no film, greasy shine or residue behind. The skin is instantly transformed, becoming velvety and silky.

Despite the lightness of the oil, when using solo on the face (I rubbed a few drops in my palms while doing a massage), I noticed the following: the skin began to noticeably smooth out (especially in places where there are creases from facial expressions), more elastic, radiant and smooth. But, there is one BUT, I have capricious and mixed skin, my pores began to clog. I didn’t exclude oil from my facial care, but started adding a drop to the cream, and with this option no problems arose.

For hair

Literally rub a couple of drops in your palms and distribute along the length of your hair. It is important not to overdo it, so as not to give weight to the hair and the effect of icicles. I prefer to apply to the length, paying Special attention ends of hair.

You can apply the oil more generously to the length of your hair half an hour before washing your hair. Thus, achieve deeper recovery.

I also tried this option, noting a positive result.

  • Opinion and conclusion⬇︎

For myself, while using the oil, I highlighted the following positive points:

Multifunctionality

This is undoubtedly one of the main advantages of the product, thanks to which it will not go into the trash in any case, everyone will choose an application for themselves.

And it’s much more convenient to take one bottle with you on a business trip, vacation, or travel, replacing many jars.

Absorbs quickly and does not weigh down the skin (no film or oily sheen). Nourishes and transforms the skin of the face and body

The effect is especially noticeable on dry areas of the skin. Soothes and relieves irritation/redness.

Rich composition

There are both pros and cons. Yes, the oil has a very beneficial effect not only on the appearance, but also on the quality of the skin. However, it may cause clogged pores, for example, on my face when I used it solo. And those who are predisposed to allergies should carefully study the composition before use in order to avoid an unexpected reaction.

Hair care

It suited my hair 100% (hair below the shoulder blades, dyed, naturally straight, medium thickness). Here, as with all oils, if the final stage is to smooth the hair and add shine, then the less, the better. And for nutrition and recovery, you don’t have to regret it (10-30 minutes before washing your hair).

Economical consumption

The word “economical” fits this oil perfectly. I use the oil almost every day, and this 10 ml bottle is not even half empty after a month.

This oil was a real discovery for me! After weighing all the pros and cons, I give it a solid 4. I recommend NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi Usage Dry Oil!

Most often, dry oil is available in spray form. Essentially, this is a familiar oil that is sprayed onto the skin or hair. What you get is a cloud of taman with oil particles that are evenly distributed over the surface of the skin or hair, leaving a non-greasy, semi-matte finish with a light fragrance.

Composition of the product

The light shine from dry oil is achieved thanks to one of its key ingredients - cyclomethicone. This component makes the skin soft and silky when using dry oil. Cyclomethicone is a universal substance consisting of unmodified silicone. It allows the oil to penetrate the skin better.

Oil molecule cannot be absorbed top layer skin cells because oil molecules are large in size. Therefore, the task of dry oil is to “glue” the oil to the body of the skin in order to help the moisturizing components of the oil be absorbed by the skin gradually.

Dry oil is so named because it uses more light types of oils, which leave a satin finish rather than a smooth finish. Such oils do not weigh down the hair, and the spray allows you to achieve the thinnest layer of product. Oil ingredients may include: jojoba oil, shea butter, butter, vitamin E in oil.

The presence of cyclomethicone allows you to apply dry oil to hair, it allows useful components penetrate the hair and makes it appear smoother.

Application

Huile Prodigieuce Golden Oil by Nuxe

Applying the product in a spray is no different from using any other spray. You just need to press the sprayer and get a stream of oil. Keep the sprayer at a distance of at least 20 cm from the surface of the skin or hair.

When using on the face, precautions should be taken to protect the eyes.

Best results can be achieved by applying dry oil after cleansing the skin. If for the body, then after the shower, if for the face, then after washing. At the same time, it is advisable not to remove moisture from the skin; this will allow the dry oil to “nail” more moisture to the skin, providing it with additional hydration.

Properties

Dry oils add a healthy appearance to the skin, moisturize it, provide protection from ultraviolet rays, and protect against sunburn. Dry oils moisturize the skin and hair, giving the skin a golden hue.

Dry oil is most suitable for the summer season, especially on hot days.

As a rule, dry oil leaves a pleasant light aroma after use, unlike natural oils, which can have a too strong odor.

Dry oil can be stored at room temperature, but protected from direct sunlight.
