In addition, using a hook, they create embroidery directly on the finished sock, or knit a beautiful flower to decorate baby’s booties.

Surely many needlewomen dream of knitting beautiful booties with braids on thick soles for their children, but they don’t know where to start.

In this master class I will describe in detail how to knit elegant and warm booties for a child 1 year or older on a felt sole. There will be a pattern on the front of the booties - a braid.

Such warm booties will be very useful for a one-year-old child and older. Because they're like warm slippers, in which it is comfortable to stomp on the cool floor.

First we take felt sole and cut out an insole of the required size from it. By the way, if you buy insoles of size 45-46, then they will be enough for 2 pairs of booties for a foot size of 14-15 cm.

We make the second insole a mirror image of the first

Preparing for knitting

Therefore, it is advisable to trace the child’s foot and cut out the pattern. We will knit using it. This first shoe is knitted equally on both feet: you don't need patterns for the right and left feet.

You will need: sole pattern, knitting needles and threads, and scissors for cutting off their ends.

• You can knit the booties using baby knitting needles on two needles and then sew the pieces together in the right places. In this case, also stock up on a knitted or simple needle with a large eye.
• If you want to make baby booties without any seams, then take 5 identical hosiery knitting needles without tips or use circular knitting needles. But using them requires some skill.

Knitting a sock

It is necessary to allocate 1/5 of the loops on it, just like on the heel. Subtract these 2/5 from the total and divide by 2. This will be one side.

• Knit half the heel stitches (after all, the seam will be in the middle), one side and the toe piece. Moreover, knit the last loop of the sock and the first loop of the second side stitch together. Turn knitting.
• Remove the edge and knit with knit stitches, knitting together the last stitch of the sock and the first stitch of the sides in the same way. Turn knitting. The sides will gradually give off one inner loop at a time to form the sock.
• Knit in this way until the top of the sock is equal to half of the foot pattern. The last row should be knitted on the front side.

Knitting the boot

• Knit the second side, and you will have the entire product on the knitting needle.
• Tie a flat fabric with an elastic band of the required length.
• Finish knitting with a lapel from garter stitch the same length as the elastic. Close the entire row.

Assembly

Fold the product in half with the right side facing inward. Sew.

Any colors of yarn, their shades or a harmonious combination will do. But for beginners, you should first knit a single-color product.

Step-by-step knitting “marshmallows”

• Determine the height of the future booties, measuring from the edge of the sole, and add 2-3 cm.
• Count the required number of loops.
• Knit a straight fabric in garter stitch with a length equal to half the perimeter of the sole pattern.
• From one edge, close the loops, the number corresponding to the length of the boot (from the top edge to the instep of the child’s foot).
• Knit a fabric consisting of 4 stripes in stockinette stitch and 3 stripes in garter stitch between them. Each stripe is equal to 4 rows. Start and end with stripes of stockinette stitch. Close the entire row.
• Join the very first row and the one just closed and sew. You have a flattened boot.
• Sew the unsewn edge of the striped fabric along the edge with a simple seam and pull tightly.

Then you can do nothing and just unscrew the parts of the boot. Or you can sew it up to the top edge.
As an option, knit a flat fabric the width of the striped part and a length corresponding to the perimeter of the sole pattern. After sewing the side piece along the bottom of the product and tightening the nose piece, pick up stitches along the top edge of the product. Next, knit booties for newborns using circular knitting needles, and your booties will be seamless.

Start knitting booties from the sole. To ensure they fit your baby, make a pattern and calculate the required number of loops. To do this, place your foot on a piece of paper in a box and circle it. Refine the lines of the sole. The result should be an oval. In places of rounding, count the number of cells for decreases and increases. One cell - 1 loop.

Knitting soles

Cast on 8 loops (this number is calculated for knitting booties from 0 to 3 months). Knit the first row and all subsequent rows. Make increments next time. To do this, remove the edge. Knit into the base of the next stitch, continue to knit until the last stitch of the row, increase again by knitting a loop at the base of the penultimate one, and finish the row with a purl. Turn the knitting over and knit the next row without increasing. Knit this way, increasing 2 times in every second row.

Next, knit the sole straight up to the 32nd row, and then start decreasing every other row as well. To do this, knit 2 loops after and before the edge stitches. Leave the stitches of the last row of the sole on the knitting needle and proceed to knitting the sock.

Knitting a bootie sock

Now you need to switch to knitting five in a circle. Take the second knitting needle and pick up 18 stitches along the wide part of the sole. On the third needle, cast on 7 stitches on the narrow one and again 18 stitches on the fourth needle. Next, knit in the round with knit stitches without increasing or decreasing. In this way, knit 7 circular rows and begin to form the toe part of the bootie.

To do this, knit 6 loops from one of the short edges of the bootie. Transfer the last stitch of the row to left knitting needle and knit 2 loops together. Knit the next row purlwise, knit 6 loops in the same way, and transfer the last one to the left knitting needle and knit 2 loops together purlwise. Continue knitting in the same way until there are 7 stitches left on all four needles.

Knitting cuff

Switch to circular knitting on five needles. Knit all stitches. Make 3-4 rows, in the next row knit holes for the ties. To do this, knit 2 stitches and yarn over. After it, knit 2 loops together, knit another one and yarn over again. Alternate knit stitches and yarn overs until the end of the round. In the next one, knit everything.

Then move on to knitting the cuff with a 1x1 rib. To do this, alternate 1 knit stitch and 1 purl stitch, while in the next circular rows, knit the front loops of the previous row with knit stitches, and purl stitches with purl loops.

Finish knitting at a height of 5-7 cm. Knit the second bootie in the same way as the first.

Cut thin satin ribbon 25-30 cm long. To prevent it from unraveling, scorch the edges with a lighter. Insert it into the prepared holes and tie it with a bow.
