Proper washing of bed linen: frequency, detergents, washing modes. How to wash bed linen in the machine How to wash linen

Reading time: 9 minutes

Previously, washing bed linen took women all day, it was a very time-consuming process, and today, the main thing is to know at what temperature things will not become unusable. A good cleanser and machine will do the rest. It has long been noted that our health is directly related to the cleanliness of the things around us, especially those that are constantly in contact with the skin (bedding, towels, clothes).

People have been washing clothes for centuries. Different countries had their own ways and means, but even in the absence of running water in the houses, this was a must for many nations.

  • In Russia, rich families turned to laundresses, and ordinary people arranged laundry once a month, the process dragged on for a whole day. We used home-made lye (ash from straw from sunflowers and buckwheat), sour milk, decoctions of beans, potatoes and hot stones.
  • In India, only men worked as laundresses. They beat the laundry on heavy boulders. In some regions, they still do this today.
  • And in Europe of the 19th century, as a punishment, prostitutes were sent to work as laundresses.

The hardest thing to wash with your hands is voluminous things, such as duvet covers, sheets, bedspreads. Before the advent of special mechanisms, this was done in large containers, and more often in the fresh air near water bodies.

Even Leonardo da Vinci thought about creating a device that would simplify this process. He drew what looked like a mechanical washing machine, but he never built it. In 1797, Nathaniel Briggs from America invented and patented a wooden box with a frame that had to be moved, due to which the linen was cleaned. In 1949, the first automatic machine was produced.

Modern technology has various functions, modes, you can adjust the temperature, speed and even control it using a computer.

This invention has greatly simplified the life of housewives. The laundress profession has not disappeared either, now their duties include the ability to correctly set the mode, speed and temperature for different types of fabric. And the biggest physical load falls on the bookmark and taking things out.

Bedding should be washed no more than once a week. During this time, dust and serious pollution do not have time to multiply, penetrate deep into the fibers, and are not able to harm the body.

It is advisable to change underwear every day only when a person is sick and has a fever, because in this case sweat and harmful bacteria are firmly and quickly fixed on the fabric.

Frequent washing contributes to premature wear of the material, but if everything is done correctly, the kit will last a long time.

For sewing bed linen, seven types of fabric are mainly used, which have a number of characteristics suitable for sleeping:

  • coarse calico
  • satin
  • poplin
  • percale
  • bamboo
  • linen
  • silk

All of them are quite soft, well absorb moisture and conduct air. Each of them is environmentally friendly if its composition is 100% natural.

Choosing a quality kit is only half the battle. The main task of a good hostess is to preserve its properties and appearance for as long as possible. To do this, you need to know the features of the matter from which it is sewn, and follow the rules of care.

It would seem that nothing complicated, but it is easy to get confused here. To prevent this from happening, the table will help you figure out at what temperature to wash bed linen, on what mode and at how many degrees, how to dry and iron properly.

It is worth noting that poplin and percale, located in the same cell, are different fabrics. The first is made from twisted threads, the second - from fibers treated with a special adhesive composition. Different weaves are used, but they differ significantly from each other only in terms of the degree of wrinkling and price, which is noted in the table.

Poplin and percale often go together, although they are woven differently and have different origin stories. However, it is often noted that in terms of properties, percale is an improved poplin.

In addition to the care instructions for each type of fabric, there are general recommendations for washing in a washing machine:

  • first, you need to turn the linen on the wrong side;
  • sort by color, degree of soiling and type of fabric;
  • fasten all fasteners (buttons, zippers, etc.), rip off all clinging decorative elements;
  • it is impossible to wash other things together with bed linen;
  • load the washing machine should be no more than 2/3;
  • do not use chlorine-containing and other aggressive agents.

The most optimal washing temperature , suitable for all types of laundry, 30 degrees. At the same time, the color is preserved and the material does not wear out, but disinfection does not occur. To disinfect a sleeping set washed at a low temperature, it must be ironed or steamed.

What clothes can be washed at 90 degrees? Only cotton bleached or dyed calico. Some sources indicate that flax too. But do not forget that the material from natural fibers shrinks under the influence of high temperatures. Other types are preserved when washed in water up to 60 degrees.

Some fabrics, like satin bedding, can be washed with hotter water than indicated on the label. In this case, you need to be careful and follow a few rules:

  • use intensive washing modes only in case of urgent need (with heavy pollution);
  • use oxygen bleaches or stain removers that do not contain chlorine;
  • do not increase speed;
  • dry and iron properly after washing.

Even after studying all the care tips, you should not forget that there are a lot of types of fabrics, they all differ in composition, in the percentage of fiber combination, etc. Before you start washing bed linen, you need to familiarize yourself with the contents of the label.

How to wash baby bedding

  • Children's bed is made mainly of cotton or bamboo. Both materials are hypoallergenic and pleasant to the touch.
  • Coton is cheaper and easier to care for. It can be washed in hot water, ironed and steamed. But it wears out faster.
  • Bamboo has a higher price. It keeps a beautiful look longer. But underwear for children must be disinfected, i.e. wash at high temperature or at least iron, which cannot be done with this fabric.
  • Although linen is also natural and harmless, it is rough for delicate baby skin.

How to wash washed bed linen

It happens that an expensive set, after several washes, loses its appearance - spools appear, the pattern fades, the canvas is torn. It is useless to find out how much better this or that bed linen is: from satin, percale, poplin, linen, coarse calico or silk. Here to each his own. The reason most often is that it was not washed correctly.

A heavily laundered bed is unlikely to be saved, but if you act at the first sign of wear, you can fix something by following proven tips:

  • Linen that has lost its gloss should be soaked in a solution of hot water (from 40 to 70 degrees) and ammonia, for no more than a day. The effect will be enhanced by adding salt, soda or hydrogen peroxide.
  • From the appearance of pellets, foil balls thrown into the drum of the machine will help.
  • Color will not fade if vinegar is dissolved in water.
  • Cotton (especially white) will look amazing and crunch nicely after soaking it in cold blue water with a starch paste.
  • Oxygen stain removers do well with difficult-to-remove stains, which do not damage the fabric.
  • If the laundry begins to electrify over time, the air conditioner will remove the static.
  • The most effective option to avoid fading is to wash sheets (especially silk ones) in the laundry or by hand.

You should not follow the "grandmother's" advice, which, without any chemistry and technology, washed any dirt on things. Firstly, the composition of modern fabrics and the dyes used are strikingly different from the previous ones. Secondly, folk remedies can simply ruin the washing machine. It is safer to use special products from the store.

Conclusion

To date, bed linen is sewn from different fabrics that differ in composition, density, softness, color scheme, price, etc. Each hostess can choose a set based on her preferences, needs and financial capabilities. But the greater responsibility for maintaining beauty and softness lies not with the manufacturer, but with the buyer.

A high-quality bed linen set made from natural fabrics cannot be cheap! The price drops if the composition contains synthetic fibers. When combining natural threads (for example, cotton with silk), the cost increases significantly.

The bed will remain tender and beautiful for a long time, if you have a careful attitude and proper care. To get a sound and healthy sleep, it is enough to follow the tips for washing clothes.

Knowing at what temperature (in the machine) to wash bedding, you will preserve the colorfulness of the colors and the strength of the material. For natural ones, use a temperature of up to 60 degrees and a speed of no more than 1,200, and for delicate ones - 30–40 ° C with a minimum number of turns. Heat-treat children's underwear at 800 rpm and be sure to iron it. If the stains that appear on the sheets cannot be removed at home, contact the dry cleaner.

The modern choice of bed linen puzzles housewives, especially young ones, since each set requires its own care. A feature of the processing of such products is the structure of the fabric, the mode and at what temperature to wash linen (bedding), so as not to thin the fabric and preserve the color.

How to wash bedding in the machine

Washing bedding by hand is a laborious process, since dimensional bedding is now popular.

In such cases, it is almost impossible to pay attention to the entire area of the duvet cover or sheet. The best way out is to wash in a typewriter, but a number of nuances are required so that the fabric does not shed and does not “sit down” after washing.

What program to use

Bedding is important to change on time, otherwise it will affect the process and quality of washing. If snow-white linen is heavily soiled, soaking is required, otherwise the fabric will soon fade and turn gray. Modern ones are equipped with a soaking function, so be sure to turn it on if you don’t change the bed on time.

The mode is chosen based on the fabric from which the kit is made.

Table 1. Programs for washing adult bedding in the machine

Most sets consist of several types of fabric, have a pattern, so it is important to consider the manufacturer's label before washing. The icons describe in detail how to handle this particular set, whether it can be machine washed at all. Before washing, be sure to read the manufacturer's data to avoid unpleasant consequences.

We select the temperature regime

This nuance is also described on the label, but if the icons are missing for some reason, rely on general recommendations.

General characteristics:

  • wash white heavily soiled sets of linen, cotton, coarse calico at 90 degrees. Colored people cannot tolerate more than 40°C;
  • bamboo - up to 40°C;
  • flannel - up to 60°C;
  • synthetics, silk, 3D, satin, jacquard (for example, Diana sets) - maximum 30 ° C;
  • wool, terry and knitted fabrics - 30–40 ° C.

Silk and wool products categorically do not tolerate boiling. After the procedure, the fabric shrinks or loses its shape, so under no circumstances should you resort to exceeding the optimal temperature.

The correct temperature for washing bed linen will avoid fading and damage to the fabric!

Detergent selection

The choice of detergent depends on the type of kit: adult / child, the degree of soiling and colors.

  • Bleaches, "Whiteness", hydrogen peroxide are used only for white (not delicate) to;
  • lightly soiled colored items from any fabric are washed with vinegar, soda, ammonia, and heavily soiled with powder with the addition of dry or liquid "Vanish";
  • diapers, accessories from blankets, pillows, kits for discharging a newborn with baby powders and hypoallergenic stain removers, folk remedies.

Take care of children's underwear with all responsibility. Do not use conventional powders and stain removers, otherwise the child will have an allergic reaction, accompanied by a long treatment.

Features of washing different bed linen

Bedding made from natural fabrics is the easiest to wash, because it is less whimsical to the temperature and washing regime, but delicate ones (bamboo, cambric, silk) require special care.

We wash the bedding from cambric, bamboo

Washing cambric or bamboo bed linen in the washing machine requires a minimum temperature not exceeding 30°C.

It is best to process such products by hand, because they are very delicate and do not tolerate a careless attitude. However, if you still prefer washing in the machine, refuse to spin at high speeds by setting the smallest number of them manually.

Instructions for processing cambric and bamboo in a typewriter:

  1. If there are stains, wash them by hand.
  2. Place the product in the drum.
  3. Set the delicate wash.

After turning off the machine, immediately remove the laundry, shake it and hang it straight out on a rope. In most cases, this eliminates the need for ironing.

It is much more difficult to get out of bed, or.

Silk underwear

Silk products (not of Chinese origin) are expensive, but they need to be looked after in the same way as bamboo.

Use stain removers, powders only as a last resort. Wash clothes in a timely manner and if persistent stains appear, try to remove them with improvised means.

If you do not trust folk remedies, use a liquid powder specially designed for silk products (in combination with a softener).

On what is better to wash the mode, at what temperature, see the table.

Table 2. Washing parameters

We wash children's things (newborn)

How many degrees to wash baby bedding is usually set in the program by the manufacturer of the washing machine.

Usually it is 50–60°C. Considering that things can be in feces, stains from yogurt, infant formula, etc. products, pre-wash them by soaking them in a solution of folk remedies:

  1. Mix 1 tbsp. vinegar, 50 g of soda, 2-3 tbsp. l. ammonia and hydrogen peroxide in 5 liters of water.
  2. Soak dirty diapers in the solution for 2 hours.
  3. Wash stains by hand with laundry soap.
  4. Load the wrung bed into the drum.
  5. Add baby powder to the special container.
  6. Run the machine in the "baby clothes" mode, setting 800 revolutions (spin) and washing temperature - 60 ° C.

The fresher the spots, the easier and better their removal. After such processing, the children's bedding will become like new. But if the laundry is very bright, liquefy the washing temperature to 40 ° C so that it does not shed.

After drying, be sure to iron and smooth out the folds that press on the back of the newborn.

How to wash bedding without a washing machine

It is very difficult to wash bedding without an automatic machine, because after getting wet it becomes heavy.

First of all, wash the stains in a solution of folk ingredients or a stain remover. Further:

  1. Get water in the bath.
  2. Add dry or liquid powder suitable for fabric and colors.
  3. Leave to sour for an hour.
  4. Wash clothes by hand.
  5. Wring out, but do not twist strongly, so as not to damage the fibers.

After hand washing and drying, the laundry will be wrinkled. Be sure to iron it, fold it several times, and put it in a storage place.

How often to change bedding

Bed linen should be changed regularly, and not as it gets dirty, because your health depends on it.

Replacing dirty laundry with new

Factors requiring frequent washing:

  • dust mites. Actively develop in unwashed linen. Can provoke a decrease in immunity or an allergic reaction;
  • bacterial diseases. Favorable flora for pathogens is sweat absorbed by the sheet and duvet cover;
  • aesthetic beauty. Sleeping on freshly washed linen is much more pleasant than on a worn and stained set with wool, dandruff and hair.

In the summer, change your bedding weekly, because sweating increases in hot weather. In winter, 1 time in 2 weeks is enough, but if you sweat often and in cold times, then be sure to wash the sheets 1 time in 7 days.

Instructions for the care and use of bed linen

  • be sure to wash new linen;
  • avoid the use of bleaches, powders containing chlorine;
  • turn garments inside out before washing;
  • wash each set separately;
  • handle polyester and natural fabrics separately from each other. This will keep them soft for longer.
  • when starting the machine, be sure to follow the recommendations indicated on the manufacturer's label;
  • do not lay the drum more than 50%;
  • dampish products are smoothed out with an iron easier and better;
  • iron inside out.

If you have planted a stain that is difficult to remove, contact a dry cleaner to remove it. Specialists will carefully remove it using special tools and equipment. Of course, the cost of the procedure is high, but only it can restore your favorite underwear.

Larisa, August 28, 2018.

Every housewife thinks about the correct washing of bed linen sooner or later. The cleanliness and softness of sheets and pillows is the key to a healthy sleep and well-being in the morning. But the white sheets turn gray and yellow, the fabric becomes covered with spools, it is strongly electrified. All these problems can be avoided by choosing the right washing mode and gentle detergent.

What mode to wash

The washing mode directly depends on the type of fabric from which the bed set is sewn. Most often it is cotton (, satin, less often -), linen, bamboo, poplin and silk. For delicate fabrics, special modes are provided with a gentle spin, these include silk, silk and semi-silk satin, bamboo.

On a note
The mode by type of material is often tied to a certain temperature and the duration of the laundry in the machine.

At what temperature to wash

At what temperature to wash clothes, sorting by type of textile and degree of soiling:

  1. 90 degrees - for disinfection and cleaning of heavily soiled linen. Only 100% cotton, predominantly white, is subjected to this test.
  2. 40-60 degrees - for normal washing of cotton and linen products, including coarse calico. It is important to read the manufacturer's recommendations: not all dyes can withstand temperatures of 50 degrees and above.
  3. 40 degrees - the usual wash of satin. Mode - "color" or "synthetics", depending on the quality of the material.
  4. 30-40 degrees on the same modes - most of the colored fabrics. With heavy pollution, a temperature of 40 degrees is allowed, if the fabrics are well dyed - 60.
  5. Without heating and up to 30 degrees on a delicate mode - bamboo and silk.
  6. But for sparing modes are not suitable, since the villi will not have time to clean themselves. Also, unlike smooth fabrics, you should not fill the drum tightly with terry products. To wash the pile, it should be washed well with water. Therefore, the "Cotton" mode is selected. Temperature - 40-50 degrees.

Detergent selection

Despite the high cost, compared to granular powder, a liquid detergent is preferable for washing both a bed set and other things. It rinses better, keeps fabrics soft, does not leave streaks, does not cause an allergic reaction, and at the same time takes care of the condition of the washing machine.

The use of the air conditioner should not be frequent. These products make the laundry soft and fragrant, but their regular use clogs the fibers.

If bleach is used, then it is added in minimal quantities. Aggressive substances in the composition of the product destroy the fibers of the fabric. Abuse of bleaching products leads to rapid deterioration of textiles.

Washing baby clothes

What and how to wash baby clothes:

  1. The product must be hypoallergenic. On sale there are special gels marked "for baby clothes."
  2. Too odorous powders are not recommended.
  3. Children's clothes are washed separately from the rest.
  4. Powders based on soda are not recommended, because. she doesn't rinse well.

Advice! Expensive products will completely replace a solution or shavings of laundry soap. Pour it into the main compartment or into the cap, which you place with the laundry in the drum.

Washing bed linen will no longer cause difficulties if you follow these recommendations:

  1. Do not ignore labels. Manufacturers recommend such care conditions that will allow you to enjoy the good condition and appearance of the kit for a long time.
  2. If there are buttons and locks on the underwear, they must be fastened before immersing in the machine.
  3. Duvet covers and pillowcases are turned inside out.
  4. Basic rule: white is erased with white, color - with color.
  5. Bleaches are not used on colored fabrics. To do this, there are stain removers with the appropriate mark.
  6. If the laundry is heavily soiled, it is pre-soaked in a basin. This reduces the washing time, saves energy, and the product retains the condition of a new thing longer.
  7. Do not overload the drum. Partial loading of the machine will ensure a more thorough rinsing of things. The approximate weight of one set is 2 kg.
  8. The safety of linen depends not only on the method of washing in the washing machine, but also on drying, ironing and storage. Many types of fabrics are dried and stored in a dark place. Cotton should be slightly damp before ironing.
  9. The kit is replaced once a week. So the laundry will not have time to get too dirty, and it will not need a long wash at high temperatures. Pillowcases can be changed more often as they get dirty faster. Duvet covers - a little less often, once every one and a half weeks, because. they stay clean longer than sheets.
  10. Linen is loaded into the wash immediately after removal. If it lies in the basket for dirty things for a long time, it will be much more difficult to restore freshness to it.

It is not difficult to wash bed linen correctly. The first step is to purchase a quality kit with detailed instructions on the label. Modern washing machines and detergents provide the most gentle and effective washing for any materials, including baby clothes.

It is desirable to have several sets of bed linen in every house. This allows you to quickly change it to fresh. Many often have questions related to the proper care of pillowcases, duvet covers and sheets, because they have different colors and are made from different fabrics. This article contains all the useful tips that allow you to keep bedding as long as possible.

How to wash bed linen

Before proceeding with this procedure, you must adhere to the following tips:

  • look at the recommendations offered by the underwear manufacturer. It will indicate the optimal temperature and mode for washing, the material of manufacture;
  • distribute bedding by fabric, temperature and color;
  • there is no need to use bleach with or without reason, it can only make it worse;
  • the more often washing is carried out, the easier the mode is set.

In the washing machine

This option is best suited for bedding, as they are quite voluminous. In order not to spoil the appearance of the fabric, the set must be turned inside out, this allows you to save the color. When loading into the drum, all laundry should be approximately the same shade to prevent shedding.

First you need to choose the optimal machine mode for a separate fabric. To do this, we study all labels from the manufacturer, which indicate that it is necessary to wash at a temperature in a certain range. Spinning can also damage the fabric, so it is important to set the correct program.

Washing temperature of individual fabrics

  • cotton - 40 degrees;
  • poplin and satin - 40-60 degrees;
  • linen and cotton - 60-90 degrees;
  • synthetic fabric and silk - no more than 30 degrees;
  • flannel sets - 40-60 degrees.

Which mode to choose

It is quite easy to remember the main types of fabrics that do not require the installation of a special machine mode. These include:

  • coarse calico;
  • poplin;
  • satin;
  • ranforce;
  • percale.

The "Delicate wash" setting is selected for bed linen from:

  • cotton
  • bamboo;
  • chintz;
  • polyester.

Most modern automatic machines have a specially made “Silk” setting. It is ideal for removing stains from silk products. You need to understand that for some kits it is recommended to use special chemicals, according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

Hand wash bedding

There are situations when the machine breaks down, but the basket with dirty things remains. Despite the fact that washing bed linen involves a significant expenditure of physical energy, this process can be facilitated. It is enough to make a special solution and place the fabric in it. This approach will allow you to get rid of stubborn pollution.

The solution contains the following components:

  • warm water;
  • bleach (one tablespoon);
  • liquid powder;
  • vinegar (one spoon).

In water heated to 50 degrees, all contents are thoroughly mixed.

After mixing all the substances, the bed linen is soaked in it and aged for about 15 hours. For these purposes, it is best to use large containers (for example, a bath).

If the fabric is likely to shed, cooler water should be used. Next, rinsing and spinning, which is carried out effortlessly so as not to cause damage. The best option is to leave the product for a while so that it is glass on its own.

How often to wash bedding

It is recommended to start washing no more than once a week, but you should pay attention to the season. In winter, people prefer to wear pajamas, so the bed stays fresh longer. In the cold season, you can change the regularity of washing up to once every 2 weeks. With profuse sweating in the summer, it is recommended to change bedding every 3-4 days.

If a person is sick, it is best to change the pillowcase, sheet, and duvet cover every day. If this is not possible, update him at least a pillowcase.

Do you wash new bedding?

Any new thing needs to be washed. This is due to the fact that the fabric is treated with chemicals that retain its shape. Due to this, industrial dust and various dirt are collected on the surface.

The first wash should be carried out at the maximum temperature indicated by the manufacturer. Thus, all microbes are killed and paint residues are removed. Do not panic if the kit has become smaller, this phenomenon is normal and is observed in every housewife.

Now that you've got some useful information on how to properly wash bedding, you can avoid common mistakes that cause fabric damage. Properly selected mode and temperature is the key to success.

Bed linen is recommended to be changed once a week. In winter, when a person sleeps in pajamas or a nightgown, you can do this with a frequency of 1 time in 2 weeks. During this time, the laundry will not have time to get very dirty and can be easily washed. However, there are times when stains appear on the fabric and the need for washing appears earlier than usual. In our article we will tell you how to do it right.

Preparing for washing

  1. Bed linen should be washed separately from other clothes, kitchen towels and handkerchiefs. Before, sort it by type of fabric, by color, by degree of soiling.
  2. Mattress covers, pillowcases and duvet covers must be turned inside out. This is necessary in order to get rid of the remnants of dirt that has accumulated in the corners.
  3. If there are stains on the fabric, clean them with a stain remover.

Optimum temperature

The optimum temperature for washing bed linen is 60 degrees. This is enough for disinfection and cleaning of contaminants. If you set a higher temperature, the effectiveness of washing and disinfection increases, but at the same time the material wears out faster. What tool to choose? An ordinary universal powder will do. You can also use powder enhancers and powder bleaches.

Colored materials can be washed at a temperature of 30-50 degrees. It is also necessary to use a special powder designed for colored fabrics. A great option is liquid shampoos. They perfectly wash things and at the same time do not spoil their quality. Heavily soiled laundry must be pre-soaked. Baby pillowcases, sheets and duvet covers are washed with baby powder at a fairly high temperature. You can read the exact cleaning instructions on the labels.

Choose a mode

Modern washing machines are equipped with various functions that allow you to set the optimal mode for washing a wide variety of types of fabrics. But in order for you to have a more detailed idea, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the following data:

Ranfors, percale, coarse calico - from 60 to 90 C

Linen - from 60 to 95 C

Poplin and satin - from 40 to 60 C

Colored chintz - 40 C. Do not use bleach. The mode should be selected with medium intensity.

Bamboo and cambric - from 30 to 40 C + delicate mode

Synthetic fabrics - 40 C + delicate mode and double rinse.

Silk - 30 degrees + delicate mode and special detergents.

Does the new bed linen need to be laundered?

The answer is unequivocal: "Yes." Firstly, during production, a large amount of dirt and dust accumulates in the fabrics. Secondly, new underwear is often impregnated with a special compound so that it keeps its shape better. It is better to wash the set separately from other things, at the maximum allowable temperature. Thanks to this, the material is well disinfected, cleaned of paint residues.

Linen fabrics are easy to wash. At the same time, its elasticity and softness are not lost from the number of washings. For dressed sets, the washing temperature is 40 degrees, for ordinary white - 60. Colored fabric can only be washed in a gentle mode so that it does not shed. To clean linen sets, a universal washing powder is used, and for colored sets, a powder designed for fine fabrics is used. Do not use products containing chlorine for bleaching, so as not to damage the pile.

If you are, do not overload the washing machine drum. The fabric must move freely in the water, otherwise stains and stripes may appear on it. Be sure to use the Extra Rinse setting as linen absorbs a lot of detergents.

Features of care for poplin and cotton

Cotton sets are the most popular. They are very soft, do not provoke allergic reactions. In addition, cotton absorbs moisture well, provides a healthy and comfortable sleep. The cost of such underwear is not high, so a family with any income will be able to purchase it. The material also has its drawbacks. It requires special care. If you choose the wrong washing mode, the fabric may “sit down”. Cotton is very wrinkled, so without ironing it looks untidy.

Poplin, compared to cotton, is more expensive, but also looks more beautiful. To the touch, the fabric resembles silk, is light and high-density. Poplin is very soft, so it is very pleasant to sleep on it. Comfortable sleep will be provided to you! When buying, carefully inspect the kit, as unscrupulous sellers often trade in low-quality poplin, which has the opposite qualities.

Calico and satin linen

Satin is a type of cotton fabric, but it feels like silk to the touch. Satin sets are expensive and of high quality. It's a good alternative to silk if you can't afford the expensive underwear. Another advantage of satin is durability and high strength. The fabric can withstand up to 300 washes and at the same time does not lose its attractiveness.

Coarse calico is distinguished by durability and practicality. It tolerates washing well, dries quickly and easily, and retains an attractive appearance for a long time. The material is durable, comfortable, easy to iron. The only downside is not a very luxurious look. But for those who appreciate comfort in the first place, coarse calico will be an ideal choice.

Care of silk linen

Silk sets look chic, they are pleasant to the touch, have high strength, do not provoke irritation and allergic reactions, and are an indicator of wealth and prestige. But in order for the material to retain its good qualities for a long time, it must be properly looked after. For proper care you will need:

  • fabric softener;
  • washing powder.

Load soiled linen into the drum of the washing machine, set the delicate wash mode (turn off the spin and bleach functions, set the temperature to 30 degrees). In the powder compartment, add gentle detergents that can be used to wash wool and silk items. Add rinse aid, softener or conditioner. Install an extra rinse if possible. If the kit is marked "P" - it requires special care.

If you are afraid to ruin the fabric,. Fill a basin with water, dilute detergent in it, lower the laundry and leave for several hours. Remember that silk does not tolerate mechanical stress, so do not rub it with your hands and brushes. Rinse several times until the water runs clear. At the last rinse, add a little acetic acid (dilute 1 tablespoon of vinegar in 5 liters of water). Thanks to such a simple manipulation, the fabric will noticeably freshen up. Silk pillowcases, sheets and duvet covers should be dried on towels, wringing lightly with your hands. Gently straighten the fabric with your hands to get rid of wrinkles. Ironing should be done while it is still damp.

If there are greasy stains on the fabric, try to get rid of them with mustard infusion. Pour a glass of dry mustard powder with water to make a batter. Add a little more warm water, let stand for a couple of hours. In the resulting infusion kit, without using soap and other detergents. Please note that you will need to rinse it at least 3 times. For rinsing, you can prepare an infusion of ammonia. In 10 liters, dilute 1 tsp.

The washing machine-automatic machine greatly facilitates the life of modern housewives. In it you can wash any clothes and underwear without the risk of ruining them. However, you need to choose the right mode and type of detergent. Detergent should be chosen based on color (white, multi-colored, 3d) and type of fabric. For white items, washing powder with special bleaches is suitable, and for colored items, a product marked “Color”. Wash delicate fabrics using a special cycle using synthetic detergents. Use fabric softener to rinse.
