Simple do-it-yourself needle beds from different fabrics and in different techniques. Embroidery design master class: Heart-shaped pincushion How to sew a heart-shaped pincushion

It seems very easy to sew a needle bar in the form of a square pillow. But the needlewoman always wants something unusual, and this is even necessary for creative inspiration. More complex options for needle cases include sewing soft toys in the form of hedgehogs and other animals. But if there is absolutely no time for sewing toys, but you urgently need it, then you can sew a needle bed in a matter of minutes. In this master class, we will sew a round needle bed that resembles a flower.

For tailoring we need:
cotton 100%;
threads;
sewing needle and large needle;
synthetic winterizer;
scissors;
pencil;
beads for decoration;
glue gun.

We will also drag the pillow with threads, dividing it into sectors that imitate flower petals. You can take some other material for this purpose, for example, waxed cord, ribbon, etc. The main thing is that this material is very durable and does not tear.

Fold the fabric in two layers right side inward. Let's circle with a pencil some round object, the diameter of which coincides with the desired size of the pad. In the master class, the diameter is 10 cm. Cut out the workpiece with scissors, leaving allowances.

We will connect the two parts with a running seam so that it is convenient to sew further.

We completely sew the two parts with a stitch seam, performing the same stitches and tightening them tightly. Can be sewn on a typewriter.

Pull out the thread that swept the details. We make an incision of 3-4 cm only on one side of the fabric in the center.

We turn the workpiece inside out, straighten the edges and begin to stuff it evenly with a padding polyester. We begin to do this, laying pieces of synthetic winterizer from the edge and closer to the center until we stuff the pillow back to back.

We sew the incision when we have finished stuffing the pillow. Perhaps it will turn out not quite perfect - it depends on the quality of the fabric. But we will hide all the flaws of the seam with threads and decorate with beads.

We take a large needle, thread a very long thread that needs to be folded in half. Tie a knot at the end of the thread. We begin to divide the pillow into sectors. To do this, insert the needle in the center and bring it out from the back, then again thread it from top to bottom and tighten it well. For one such strip, we make three circles and continue by moving to the opposite side. First we close the seam with threads, and then we move on. We make sure that the needle constantly falls into the same hole both from above and from below.
If the thread has run out and you have not yet tightened the required number of sectors, simply tighten the knot close to the fabric and cut the thread. Thread the needle again and continue to tighten.
You can make as many sectors as you like. It all depends on the diameter of the pad.

By Valentine's Day, many embroiderers succumb to the general hype and begin to embroider cute little embroideries - various hearts. However, after the heart is embroidered, the question reasonably arises: where to put it now? It's not a picture. You can't hang this little thing on the wall! We offer to arrange an embroidered heart in the form of a needle bed.

To begin with, let's draw a template for a future useful little thing. We take a pack of newspapers, put a sheet of paper on them on which we will make a template, and put embroidery on top

Holding the embroidery in one position, we make punctures with a needle along the edge of the embroidery. It is not necessary to pierce all the embroidery - we only need half.

These are the marks from the needle we get as a result on paper

We connect the dot indicating the center of the embroidery along the top with the dot indicating the center along the bottom with a straight line using a ruler

Outline the dots with a pencil

So that the embroidery does not look pinched after decoration, you need to leave a little empty canvas around the entire perimeter. Therefore, we draw another line of the "half-heart" a little further than the first

Fold the sheet along the center line

And cut out the pattern

I got this template

According to this template, cut out four hearts from cardboard.

We take a piece of cloth, which will be the background for the cut sections of the hardanger. If your embroidery is not welt, then this step can be skipped.

We glue the fabric to the cardboard blank with the help of a glue cobweb and an iron

We cut the edges of the fabric evenly in the shape of a heart.

We make the back of the needle bar. To do this, we also glue the fabric to the cardboard blank using a cobweb and an iron. We leave a supply of fabric around the perimeter of about 1 cm for the hem.

If you are sure that there will be no traces of glue on your fabric, then you can safely use any glue that is convenient for you. My fabric is thin and I did not take risks.

we cut the fabric along the entire contour to the cardboard

From the inside, you can already use glue. We generously smear with glue (I use a regular glue stick) and bend the fabric to the inside

For the hearts that will be inside the needle bed, I used canvas. We circle the templates and cut out with a margin for a hem. Since the canvas is thicker than the fabric that I used for the back of the needle bar, I immediately cut it around the perimeter

We smear with glue and bend the ends of the fabric to the inside

Let's make a template for felt hearts into which we will stick needles. To do this, cut off approximately 0.5 mm around the entire perimeter of our paper template. This is how much the template has become smaller:

trace this template on felt

Cut out with zigzag scissors. If there are no such scissors, you can cut it evenly.

We take our blanks for the inside of the needle bed, covered with canvas

We sew felt hearts to each blank with a thread in color. We fasten the thread better on the wrong side - anyway, then everything will be glued

We close the places of sewing with decorative rivets. They are curved and attached with glue.

You can simply sew on felt hearts with suitable buttons, for example - as in these needle beds:

We sew a button on the back of the needle bar with which the needle bar will close

The front side of the needle bed (the one on which the embroidered motif is located) - glue the loop. To measure the desired length, be sure to fold all 4 parts of the needle bar together and see how long the loop should be to reach the buttons on the back.

We glue two pieces of ribbons symmetrically (you can use braid, lace .. whatever you like ..). With the help of these ribbons, the needle bar will open without problems.

After all the glued parts have dried out, once again generously lubricate with glue, put the prepared inner part with a felt heart on top and press it with some kind of press. For example - a stack of books

By the same principle, we glue the second heart

This is what the needle looks like from the front

Glue a string around the perimeter of each heart. These cords usually begin to unwind rapidly after being cut. therefore, I first grease part of the lace with glue (Moment-crystal), wait until it dries and only then cut it. Then the cord no longer unwinds and you can even cut it off, for example, at an angle - to beautifully join it into a butt. I also do it with the tip of the cord - I don’t glue literally 2 cm of the cord, I lubricate the amount of cord I need with glue, wait for it to dry, and only then I measure, cut and glue the cord

In the process of sewing, it is very convenient to have a needle bar on hand to prevent the loss of a needle or sewing pins. Needle beds come in a variety of sizes, textures and shapes. It can be a simple pillow, a knitted mushroom or cactus, or it can be an elegant hat or a stylish mannequin. In this case, it all depends on the desire, skill and availability of the necessary materials.

Simple do-it-yourself needle beds

Perhaps the most simple will be needle beds - pads that are easy to make without any patterns and special tools.

You need a piece of fabric, filler (synthetic winterizer, cotton wool) and a needle and thread. But even in such light do-it-yourself needle cases, there is scope for a flight of fancy. By sewing on buttons, beads or beautiful braid, embroidering initials or making a rose from a thin ribbon, you can completely transform a model of a needle bed that seems so simple at first glance.

Here is the simplest example of making a round needle bed:

  • a circle is cut out of cardboard (for the stability of the future needle stand);
  • a piece of fabric is prepared larger than a circle of cardboard; slightly pulled together with a simple seam along the edge of a circle of fabric;
  • a synthetic winterizer is placed in the fabric, and a cardboard circle is placed on top;
  • connecting the parts (you can additionally glue the fabric to the cardboard) with stitches by hand, fix the product around the cardboard frame;
  • decorate the needle bed with beads, beads, thin braid.

A variation on the theme of a round needle bed will be “pumpkins” or “flowers”.

In this model, a cardboard circle is not required. Two, identical in shape, round parts are sewn together, stuffed with soft material and decorated with large stitches. At the end of the work, they are decorated with improvised means (a beautiful little button, a bright ribbon).

Another interesting and convenient device for a seamstress will be such a needle holder with a fixing tape on the arm. It can be a thick thick elastic band or Velcro tape.

Such needle beds can be of different shapes: round, square, heart, or, more complicated, in the form of an animal, handbag, shoe.

Needle beds made in the form of ladies' hats look original and elegant. Making them is not difficult at all, and the result will exceed all expectations.

Do-it-yourself needle case "hat"

Let's consider a step-by-step master class of an unusual do-it-yourself needle bed "Hat in peas":

  • Prepare a cardboard circle and a twice as large circle of fabric - these are the future fields of the hat.
  • Carefully fix the fabric on the cardboard circle, making uniform folds.
  • Cut out a second circle of fabric, equal in size to the cardboard pattern.
  • We place a small piece of synthetic winterizer inside the fabric and sew it together.
  • We connect two parts (you can sew or glue).
  • We decorate the needle hat with a ribbon with a bow and small flowers (you can use beads, beads, decorative ribbon bows and artificial small flowers).
  • In 30-60 minutes you get a great tool for needles and pins.

By changing the color or fabric of the product, you get a completely new and beautiful masterpiece, which you can admire endlessly. At will, you can create hats of different styles: gentle and aristocratic or modern and sporty. There are, in fact, a great many options. The main thing in this business is to show imagination and realize what was planned.

Do-it-yourself needle beds from a jar

Many needlewomen, in the manufacture of needle beds, use improvised tools such as cans. Jars are chosen whole, small, if possible - beautiful. But ordinary small jars of mustard or baby food are also suitable. The main thing is to skillfully decorate the container and turn it into a "assistant for a seamstress." What is the convenience of such needle beds?

And the fact is that the jar, in addition to the needle pad, also serves as a storage place for small buttons or beads. Thus, the double task of the product is fulfilled: practicality and beautiful appearance.

Consider a detailed master class for making a needle case from a jar with your own hands.

You will need a jar with a lid, thick fabric for a pillow, decorative elements (linen ribbon, lace, paper flowers, silk ribbon), synthetic fluff, glue, cardboard.

  • A jar with a lid of the desired size, wash and dry.
  • Prepare a pincushion for decorating the lid.
  • To do this, cut out a circle of fabric (twice the diameter of the lid) and a cardboard circle (equal to the diameter of the lid).
  • Put a little synthetic down or synthetic winterizer and a circle of cardboard for a strong fixation (detailed instructions are given in the description of the manufacture of a round needle bed).
  • With stitches, firmly tighten and fix the fabric around the cardboard circle, while pressing the sintepuh.

  • Glue the finished pad to the lid of the jar (you can lightly sand the surface in advance for a tighter fit).
  • Decorate the jar with braid and ribbons using special glue.

In order for the jar to remain functional, when decorating it, you should not glue the junction with the lid. It is enough to decorate the pillow on the lid, for example, with an embroidered flap and matching braid.

If the manufacturer does not pursue such practical goals, the jar can be completely decorated, changing beyond recognition.

Do-it-yourself needle beds from felt

A very popular material in modern needlework is felt and felt. Soft and pleasant to the touch, easy to sew, felt in handicrafts looks bright and original. Needle beds were no exception: products in the form of animals, plants, household items cannot but cause a smile and tenderness of others.

Actual models will be cacti, the needles of which will visually replace sewing needles and pins. Such a needle case looks natural and is very easy to make.

  • First, you need to cut out all parts of the needle bar from felt.

  • You can make a pattern yourself or use an approximate option, double it and print it on a printer.

An approximate pattern of a do-it-yourself needle bed "Cactus"

  • On the finished parts you need to leave allowances for seams.
  • Sew all the details, turn them out and fill them with some soft material (foam rubber, cotton wool, remnants of fabrics or threads).

  • Connect the parts to get a whole product.

  • Decorate the cactus with a felt flower in a bright color, such as burgundy or red with a button instead of a core, and the needle bar is ready!

Felt is a non-woven durable material with a soft, felt structure. It is very easy to work with, because its edges do not crumble and do not need to be additionally processed with an overlock. It is perfectly bent, glued, has no inside and face. And crafts made of felt are soft, slightly fleecy and very pleasant to the touch.

That is why felt needle beds are distinguished by some kind of “homely”, warm atmosphere of perception, they create real comfort in the house.

These funny and cute needle beds can be sewn from pieces of felt. By the way, the task is greatly facilitated by the fact that now felt in small pieces is sold in needlework stores, especially for crafts. And the color scheme is so diverse that you can easily choose the right shades, combining and combining, “as your heart desires.”

Do-it-yourself needle book

You can also make needle books from felt. They are very roomy and unusual. Well, everyone can decorate and transform such a “book” at their own discretion.

The main thing in such needle beds is to think about what the main frame will be made of and what decorative elements will be used. The book can be either whole or divided into halves, sewn by hand or on a sewing machine. A fundamentally important condition is the presence of soft felt in the middle of the book so that the needles can easily be fixed in the needle bed.

Pincushion books are popular, the flyleaf of which is decorated with embroidery. Such an unusual solution for the needle bed makes it look like a real mini-book or notebook. The drawing for embroidery is selected small, compact, ornamented. Most often, these are plant and floral motifs. Connect the book, as a rule, with a silk ribbon. On the inside of the book, the felt is either glued or sewn on.

Thematic decorative elements used to design the “title page” (pin, miniature scissors or reel) are easy to purchase in specialized needlework stores. Such details refresh the craft in their own way, giving it an individual character.

The fastener for the needle book can also be made in the form of a loop and buttons. There may be two or more pages in such a "book", depending on the need. They can be completely made of felt or partially glued to the base material.

Application on the book-pincushion is a stylish and fashionable element of decor.

If there is no felt at hand, a needle bed of this shape can also be sewn from another material: cotton, cotton or linen.

With this shape of the needle bed, it is convenient to take it with you in case of departure or give the child for labor lessons. All sharp needles will be securely hidden in a soft book. This is one of the main advantages of such a needle bed, all other models have an open look.

One of the most difficult, but also the most attractive, is the mannequin-shaped pincushion. Graceful figurines are often made in a romantic, vintage style, which makes them seem even more sophisticated and delightful.

Do-it-yourself needle bed "mannequin"

Such needle beds are made in full silhouette or on the footboard, using many additional accessories. A beautiful do-it-yourself needle bed, in addition to its intended purpose, will become a real decoration of the interior. Of the materials, you may need silk, velvet, velveteen, cotton, flannel, tulle and a variety of stylized accessories.

I. So the guys looked at the guests, and now we are all looking at me, calmed down, sat down nicely, our backs are straight, we don’t slouch. What day of the week do we have today? Gulnara says. We give a complete answer. That's right, Friday. Regina repeat what day of the week? Well done. And Friday is the day of what Edik?

Friday is labor day.

Right. On Friday we work, we clean up the fixed areas in the boarding school on the school grounds. Now what is our job? Marina says.

Now we have manual labor.

What did we do in the last lesson?

The material was washed and ironed.

That's right, well done. Guys, what month are we now? Ilnar, please tell me.

The month of March, the first month of spring.

Well done, sit down.

We have already talked about this holiday, March 8 is coming soon. Today in class we will start making a gift for our mothers and grandmothers. We will make such a needle.

II. Now let's look at a sample. What are the parts of the needle bar? Damir says.

Two hearts are sewn together, in the middle there is another heart.

This heart in the middle is called the finishing heart. Let's all repeat this word in unison. Well done. You all have two shreds on the table: red and pink. We need to cut out two pieces from the red patch. How do we do it (according to the template). We bend the flap with an accordion, do it with me, attach half of a large template, circle it. (I help Regina, Gulnara). And now let's make a finishing heart. We bend the pink flap in half, apply half of the small template and also circle it. Now we need to cut it all out. Before taking up scissors, let's remember TB when working with scissors and needles. You have scissors in front of you, the needles are stuck in the needle pads.

Look, guys, is the finishing heart glued or sewn on? Angela will answer.

The finishing heart is sewn on.

Why, think and tell.

The pad should be soft, but the glue makes it hard.

That's right, Marina. Well done.

Now let's get to work. First, sew a finishing heart to the front. To make it more convenient to sew, we overcast, as I did. We work carefully, we observe safety regulations.

PHYSMINUTE.

You and I know different seams, and today we will learn how to make buttonhole seams, we will repeat this word in chorus. I show you how to make a buttonhole stitch. Let's do it with me. We embroider with floss threads. We continue to work (I go, I help children).

Guys, we do the work neatly, beautifully, so as not to be ashamed to give to mothers. What kind of seam do we sew, Ilnar? Gulnara, repeat. What threads do we work with? (Thread floss).

In this lesson, we did not have time to finish the work, we will finish it in our free time in order to be in time before March 8.

Now collect the garbage in boxes, needles on the pillows. And let's see who did it. Put the product on the table and compare them. Well done guys, well done. We'll finish the job in the next lesson. And now we quietly get up and go out into the corridor.
