How to sew a parrot. Toy parrot and owlet. Tire parrots

Hello dear readers. From old things and clothes that are a pity to throw away, you can make a good toy for a child or a decoration for the house. From fur fabric from old boots and felt, we got two - a parrot and an owlet, for the manufacture of which we used black and white threads, a sewing needle, scissors, paper with a pencil for making samples, as well as nail polish, cotton wool, leather black and brown fabric, light brown and blue fabric with fur (from old boots), white fabric for making eyes, adhesive tape and needles for stabbing.
The manufacturing process took us a week. We got these two toys:

Getting started, we first make their paper samples:

We decided to start sewing by making a toy parrot. Taking a sample and cutting off its extra elements (wings, "fluff" on the neck, paws and a feather on the head), we take the felt fabric and fold it in two. Then we pin the paper sample to this fabric and cut out the shape with a seam allowance of about 1 cm:

Next, we take white threads and make seams along the edges of the figure, leaving sections of allowance about 0.5 cm wide in order to increase the size of our craft. We leave a free area at the bottom in order to turn it inside out:

Now we turn the resulting blank from the inside out and fill it with cotton wool:

After the figure is filled with cotton wool, the unsewn lower section of the fabric must be processed with a seam:

Now we take a fabric with light brown fur and cut off a narrow long strip from it:

With this strip of fabric, we need to wrap around the neck of the future toy, and then, cutting off the excess part of the strip, sew the fur fabric at the ends at the back:

The resulting eyes need to be sewn to the figure. From brown leather fabric, we cut out two details of the beak:

These two parts we need to glue and hem to the craft. But besides them, we must cut out in pairs more details of the paws, tail and two details of the wings:

We sew the resulting parts of the wings and tail along the edges, leaving small holes in order to turn them from the wrong side:

After the details of the wings and tail are sewn and turned inside out, the details of the wings can be filled with cotton. The tail can not be filled with cotton, and paws cut from leather fabric can be glued in pairs (if desired):

After that, we need to sew the finished parts of the paws, wings and tail to the craft:

After that, our toy will be almost ready. This is what she looks like from behind:

After that, we must make many cuts along the edges of each of the figures, folding these figures in half:

In order for the finished figures of feathers to be stronger, it is advisable to paste over them on the outside with transparent tape.
When all the feathers are ready, they will need to be sewn to the craft:

After that, everything, our first toy is ready:

Then we, dividing this sample into three parts (torso, neck and head), cut out three more samples from another sheet of paper (wings, paws and tail), and then cut out the details in pairs from the fabric according to these samples:

Now we sew the edges of each of the shapes, leaving small areas of allowance. We start sewing from the head:

We sew the head, neck, wings, paws and tail without problems, but at the very least we take up sewing the torso, because ready-made paws need to be sewn to it. We first pin them from below.

When stitching, you need to change the position of the paws at the body from top to bottom, direct them with their front sides inward and then sew.

4 training hours are allotted for the manufacture of the model (Fig. 32, 32a; color table 14).

The pattern consists of the following parts: head - 2 parts, body - 2 parts, breast - 1 part, wings - 2 parts, scallop - 1 part, beak - 2 parts, tail - 3 parts, paws - 2 parts.

This toy is made from multi-colored pieces of fur (for example, the head is pink, the body is blue, the breast is yellow, the tail is multi-colored).

All parts of the parrot patterns are outlined on the wrong side of the material and cut out with the tips of small scissors exactly along the line of the pencil. When cutting fur, care must be taken not to disturb the pile. The tip of the scissors is slipped under the villi and only the fabric (base) is cut out. Sew the details on the wrong side of the material over the edge. The stitched forms are turned inside out and stuffed with cotton. After that, the head is sewn to the body in such a way that the seam line of the head falls in the middle of the breast. A scallop, two parts of the beak and two parts of the legs are cut out of red felt. The comb is sewn to the head. The halves of the beak sewn with a looped seam are loosely stuffed with cotton wool and sewn to the lower part of the head. The paws do not need to be stuffed; a thin, flexible wire is inserted into them. The wing of the parrot is attached with the upper part to the place indicated on the pattern by a dotted line.

Three multi-colored parts of the tail are fastened together at the point indicated on the pattern with a cross, and sewn to the bottom of the body close to the paws. Eyes and colored undereye pads are made from oilcloth.

Parrots are very bright and beautiful birds. From colored pieces of felt, you can sew a small toy parrot that will decorate the room.

In order to sew a parrot toy according to a pattern, you need to choose the materials of the brightest, most cheerful colors. You can use both fabric and fur, but the pile must be short. Felt parrot patterns are considered the simplest; more experienced craftswomen choose other techniques. For example, they make tilde toys. Their main features are restrained pastel colors, pink ruddy cheeks and tiny eyes - buttons. Of particular importance is the design of the muzzle - lightly tint the cheeks and embroider the eyes.

Many mothers dress up their daughters for the New Year's party as princesses, often ordering evening dresses for this, the style of which would rather suit them. If you are not one of them and understand that childhood goes by very quickly, then choose something more original and age-appropriate for the child, for example, a parrot costume. It is quite easy to make it with your own hands. In this case, you can choose an option in which your daughter will compete with any Snow White or Cinderella. There are also parrot costumes that are suitable for boys and even toddlers who are just learning to walk.

What you need to create an outfit

Depending on what kind of New Year's parrot costume you are going to make with your own hands, you will need:

  • any feathers;
  • food coloring in bright colors;
  • old clothes;
  • cardboard;
  • acrylic paints;
  • boa for decoration of bouquets;
  • translucent organza in yellow, red and blue (for the option with a fluffy dress);
  • wire;
  • glue;
  • paper;
  • pencil;
  • ruler;
  • scissors;
  • threads.

Well, if you have the opportunity to use a sewing machine. However, in case of its absence, you can choose an option that is made entirely by hand.

Do-it-yourself parrot costume for a girl

Moms who want their daughter's outfit to be not only original, but also beautiful, should work hard and sew for her a dress made of translucent organza in several bright colors. It is made either from scratch or using old clothes. For example, you can decorate a bright plain blouse in an appropriate way. To do this, feathers are sewn to the sleeves and to the neck, dyed by soaking in a saturated solution of food dyes, or 3-4 frills of different colors to make something like a frill.

Next, 5 strips are cut out of organza, the length of which is 2 times greater than the circumference of the girl's waist. The width of the first of them should be equal to the length of the dress, and each subsequent one should be 5 cm shorter. The edges of all strips are cut in the form of feathers and processed, holding over the flame so that they do not begin to crumble. Each is sewn together in the form of a pipe, and the upper edge is wrapped and stitched. An elastic band is threaded into the resulting drawstring.

When the skirt is ready, it is worn over a decorated blouse. To hide the junction of the two parts of the outfit, you can make a wide belt, sew feathers on it and tie it with a bow at the back.

Wings

If you have chosen a chic parrot costume, with your own hands, in addition to the dress, you will have to make accessories for it. The main one is the wings. For their manufacture, a frame is formed from wire, which is then covered with fabric. You can then choose one of the following options:

1. Cut out of the fabric of two colors in one strip 15 cm wide. Draw along the bottom edge like the hem of the dress. Sew in two rows along the edge of the “wings” with an indent of 5 cm.

2. Completely hide the surface of the fabric chosen for wrapping under a layer of feathers, using several multi-colored boas for bouquets.

Accessories

If the girl is a schoolgirl, then her head should not be decorated with a design with a beak. Instead, it is better to take a template as a basis and decorate it with feathers. You can also use a bezel with the appropriate decor.

DIY parrot costume for a boy

The outfit of a tropical bird is suitable not only for a girl. It can be sewn for the son. It will be much easier to cope with such a task if you have shorts and bright colors on hand.

To make the simplest parrot costume with your own hands, just sew a cape. It should resemble wings and a tail in shape and be fixed on the back with rubber rings worn on the wrists and shoulders.

For its manufacture, you should:

  • cut out of paper two semicircles with a diameter of the length of the child's arm and a figure in the shape of a carrot;
  • fold the base fabric in half and, using patterns, apply the contours of the wings and tail to it;
  • cut out all the details, connect them in two, sew on a typewriter and turn inside out;
  • draw on paper a figure in the form of a pen with a truncated end;
  • transfer the outline to the fabric and cut out such a number of details that you can sheathe the entire edge of the wings and body of the parrot along with the tail;
  • decorate the cape with feathers, preferably in 3 rows;
  • fasten in the right places (at the end of the wings and at the place of their connection with the body).

Beanie

If you are going to make a do-it-yourself parrot costume, the photo of which is presented above, you will need to sew a hat with a beak. To do this, you need to cut an oval from a knitted or other stretchable fabric, the width of the narrow part of which will be equal to the semicircle of the child's head. The length is calculated by the formula: (width plus 10 cm) x 2. It is cut into two halves and sewn together. In the upper part, they are sewn perpendicular to the main seam to make a hat. The headdress is turned inside out and the bottom edge is processed, having previously turned it inside.

Next, a beak is made. To do this, a figure of the desired shape is cut out of paper. Transfer it to paper and cut out two parts from the fabric folded in half. They are sewn together, turned inside out and stuffed, for example, with synthetic winterizer. Attach the beak to the cap. Glue on the eyes. If there is a desire, complement the headdress with feathers.

Parrot costume for a baby: option 1

Who said that children who, due to their age, do not go to kindergarten, cannot take part in the New Year's carnival? A colorful parrot costume is perfect for a kid. With your own hands, it can be made from a bright-colored jacket with a hood. For this you need:

  • cut out strips of different colors 15 cm wide from old clothes or foamiran rolls (in the latter case, you do not have to process sections);
  • cut out identical triangles from them at an equal distance to get an imitation of feathers;
  • sew them along the side seams of the jacket and sleeves;
  • cut a tail out of fabric;
  • fasten multi-colored feathers on it;
  • sew the resulting tail to the back of the jacket;
  • stick big eyes on the hood;
  • make a beak as described above;
  • sew it to the hood;
  • complement the jacket with trousers in bright colors.

If the jacket is without a hood, then you can make a headdress from a children's baseball cap. Her visor is painted in a bright color. The eyes are glued, and a plume of feathers is fixed on the top of the head.

Baby Costume: Option 2

If the house has an old sweatshirt of an older child in green, yellow, blue or red, then it can be used to make a baby costume. For this it is enough:

  • make a drawstring at the bottom (if it is not there) and thread an elastic band;
  • triangles are cut out from strips of shiny fabric of the same width of 3-4 bright colors;
  • sew them along the side seams (see photo);
  • on the hood they make a drawstring along the edge (if absent);
  • thread a braid or elastic band;
  • “feathers” are sewn to the seam connecting the hood with a sweatshirt, cut out of fabric, the same as that used to decorate the side seams;
  • make a yellow beak;
  • sew it to the hood;
  • glue a tuft to it.

The parrot costume is complemented by bright plain tights. You can replace them with tight-fitting trousers, preferably red.

Now you know how to make a parrot costume with your own hands, and you can make an original and bright outfit for your daughter or son.
