A basket is a great solution for anyone who loves to do needlework with their own hands. You can make such a container from improvised materials, while saving money, and the result will certainly be stylish and unique.

How to make a basket with your own hands from a cardboard box?

The easiest way is to turn a finished box into a basket by pasting it with any decorative material. To do this, you can use the remnants of wallpaper, self-adhesive film, colored paper and cardboard, fabric. You can glue it with glue or double-sided tape.

The box for pasting with a cloth should be chosen as strong and thick as possible. The material must not be branded. Synthetic fabrics are best suited, they wrinkle less and hold their shape better. Thin material can be starched, it is permissible to glue it on double-sided tape. More dense fabric Can only be glued on.

We cut the material in accordance with the dimensions of the box, leaving 2-3 cm for the allowance. As a decor, lace or satin ribbons, braid, embroidery, etc.

Cut off the top flaps of the box.

Cut out a square (rectangle) for the inner side of the bottom of the basket, slightly larger than its area. Glue and straighten.

We paste over the inner side walls with two strips of fabric (1 strip for 2 walls). To make it neat, we roll the fabric into a roll, gradually grease the wall of the box with glue and roll out the roll.

We cut out squares from the fabric (2 pcs.) With allowances for pasting 2 opposite outer walls of the box. Bend the edge at the top edge inward and glue it. In order for the folds at the corners to be neat, we make small cuts.

We cut out one large piece of fabric to paste over the 2 remaining walls through the bottom and tuck it in the same way. Basket out of the box is ready!

We make an interesting version of a basket of rope for a bath or a bath

It is convenient to store towels and other bath accessories in such a basket, so it can be made for a bathroom or for a summer residence. You will need a simple plastic basket (for example, office version waste baskets) and a suitable rope in one or more colors.

We wrap the basket with a rope, starting from the bottom, gradually apply hot glue to the rope. The adhesive can be applied in a continuous line or in dotted lines at intervals of 1-2 cm.

A simple metal basket is also suitable for work. We glue it with turns of rope in the same way. You can see in more detail the process of making a rope basket in the photo:

Crafts from improvised materials are valued for their cost-effectiveness and for helping to give a second life no longer the right things. IN Lately weaving from newspapers is quite popular. Products made from paper vines are quite durable and beautiful.

To make a basket you will need:
  • A stack of newspaper sheets.
  • Scissors and ruler.
  • Thick cardboard for the bottom.
  • PVA glue and glue gun (optional)
  • Knitting needle.
  • Acrylic paint (we have white) with a brush.
  • A jar or bottle of a suitable diameter as a shape.

Newspaper sheets are cut into the longest even strips 10 cm wide. You can cut with scissors or with a ruler and a clerical knife. We wind each strip on a knitting needle (3-4 mm in diameter) at an angle of 30 degrees, glue the corner with PVA. Thus, we twist at least 30 tubes.

Cut out 2 circles from cardboard along the diameter of the future basket (you can circle the jar). The tubes for the base (vertical) are flattened by 3 cm from the edge. Glue the tubes with flattened ends to cardboard base. They should be arranged radially at the same distance from each other. You can glue them with a glue gun, as in the photo, or with the help of PVA, but in the second case, it will take more time and some kind of press.

Lubricate the second circle with glue and stick on top of the first. We raise the tubes vertically, carefully tighten the faith with an elastic band. We glue the working tube to the cardboard bottom, slightly flattening its end. We begin weaving, bending around the main tube in a circle with a working tube.

We continue weaving, as necessary, we increase the working tube, inserting the next one with a drop of PVA glue into it. We set a jar at the bottom, which will serve as a support and facilitate weaving.

Having reached the required height, we hide the end of the working tube in the nutria of the weave, glue it and cut off the excess. We cut the tubes of the base, leaving the ends 3 cm each. We bend them inward and fill them into weaving, smearing them with glue.

basket of newspaper tubes ready! Now the work needs to be painted with acrylic paint in 3 layers, keeping at least a few minutes before each new layer. You can decorate and use the basket as you wish.

1.Cut out a square from paper . Its side must be a multiple of three. It can be a square, the side of which is 45 or 30 cm. The size of the workpiece will directly affect the size of the basket itself. So, in the case of a square whose side is 45 cm, you get a basket 15 cm long. You must first decide what size you want to see the future basket.

2.Workpiece marking in progress into 9 squares, which will have the same dimensions. In this case, you need to cut out four corner parts. The central square is used as the bottom for the future basket. It remains unchanged. The cut squares are cut into strips of the same width. But it is worth considering main feature that the cut should not reach the edge. Actual use of a clerical knife.

We make blanks

3.Take a leaf and cut it into strips the same width. In the future, these strips will be used to braid the basket around the perimeter. The edges need to be fixed with glue, which will give the frame rigidity.

Cardboard baskets (MK)

Cardboard baskets are made using a similar technology.. To make such an Easter bag, you need to take a sheet of cardboard and divide it into 9 parts, which will have the same size. In this case, it is worth deciding on the color and pattern of the cardboard. In the future, this will facilitate the decoration of the product. Here the choice depends entirely on the preference of the needlewoman.

Compared to the first option, when making a cardboard basket, there is no need to cut out corner elements. Here you just need to make cuts along the lines.

The central three squares, placed horizontally, remain unchanged.. On the rest of the lines you need to make cuts. So, it will be necessary to make only four incisions. The extreme parts are bent and fixed to the base with glue. Of course, if desired, a stapler can be used as a fastener. The main thing is that the staples are not noticeable, otherwise it will violate the aesthetic appearance of the product.. For such a basket, you can make both one and two handles.

This is what the finished basket looks like.

Making a vintage basket(MK)

For experienced needlewomen, a vintage-style basket would be a good option. This will create original gift loved ones for the holidays.

You will need some materials:

  • thick paper and pages from an unnecessary book;
  • ground coffee;
  • brushes and glue;
  • ropes for making handles;
  • decorations for decorating the basket.

1. Paper is being prepared , it is better to take old children's editions. They used fairly thick paper, which will make it possible to make a fairly stable and reliable basket.

We prepare sheets

2.Paper is getting old . To do this, you just need to paint the sheets with brewed coffee.. Even a child can easily cope with such a task. When the paper is covered with coffee, it needs to be allowed to dry. In the end, the sheets will acquire a coffee-brown color. The coloring will turn out to be uneven, which will give the feeling that the paper for the basket is old. If the blanks are not as dense as you would like, then you need to glue several sheets together. The basket must support the egg and not collapse.

Leaves stained with brewed coffee

3.When the paper is ready you can start cutting . The work can be easily done by hand. Of course, if you want to create a large basket, then the scan must be applied in certain sizes. This will allow you to make a more even and beautiful basket. On small products, deviations and irregularities will not be so visible.

Pattern

4. You also need to parallel prepare two identical circles , which will hide these irregularities.

Final blanks

5. Undercuts and bends of the workpiece are performed along the drawn lines. The elements are glued to the base of the basket.

Elements stick together

6. A circle is glued in the upper part of the mount, which is pre-folded in half. Thus, the basis of the basket can be considered finished. It remains only to make small holes and fix the handles.

Glue the circles on the sides

7. Better as handles use old rope. It is launched into the hole and tied with a knot.

Surely at home, many housewives have a warehouse of old newspapers, which rarely manage to be attached, but it's a pity to throw them away. Those who are engaged in creativity may like the idea of creating some kind of little thing using paper printing. A useful and unusual product that is useful in everyday life is a basket of newspaper tubes. This item will be an excellent interior detail, serve as a jewelry box or a vase for artificial flowers. In addition, a do-it-yourself basket can become a wonderful gift presented to any celebration.

Master class on weaving a square laundry basket with a photo

A basket of newspaper tubes can take round, oval, rectangular and square shapes. Depending on the amount of material, the size changes: the needlewoman will be able to create both cute little baskets for storing memorabilia, toys, and large wickerwork that will become indispensable at home. Below is a master class on weaving a square laundry basket, where it will be convenient to store things before washing or drying. This product, complemented by a lid and functional handles, will help to use the space of the apartment more efficiently.

How to make newspaper tubes

The first thing to prepare before weaving a basket is newspaper tubes, which are analogues of the classic vine. To do this, you will need: the right amount of double sheets of newspaper, knitting needles of the required size, scissors and glue. How to make a newspaper "vine" for weaving a basket:

  • To create four tubes, take a double sheet of newspaper, horizontally divide it into four equal parts (cut with scissors or tear).

  • On the lower right edge, at an angle of 20 degrees, put the knitting needle. Lightly glue the tip of the paper strip with glue, and then begin to tightly twist the newspaper sheet onto the knitting needle.

  • When the surface of the needle is finished, continue twisting the newspaper with your fingers. Apply a little glue to the free tip, press it against the tube with your fingers.

  • Repeat the same with the rest of the newspaper strips.

Helpful Hint: Practice making newspaper tubes ahead of time. Usually the first time source materials for weaving, they may not turn out too neat and even, but their beauty will come with experience. After some practice, you will be able to intuitively feel how much to pull the newspaper and twist the knitting needle, everything will work out by itself.

How to weave the bottom of a basket

  • Lubricate the edge of the element with glue, attach to another newspaper tube (in the figure, the length of the material is 25 cm). Reinforce with a clothespin for better fixation. Attach two more corner tubes with glue.

  • Make the required number of strips with four straws: as many as you need for the bottom of the basket.

  • Glue two tubes bigger size(in the photo - 51 centimeters). Prepare more newspaper strips (in the photo - 75 cm).

  • Arrange the paired strips as shown in the photo.

  • Take single newspaper tubes, start braiding paired strips with them: bend around the bottom one from the bottom, the top one from the outside. Place the next element 25 cm long and follow the same procedure until all four tube strips are used.

  • When the bottom is ready, cut off the edges of the strips with four elements so that the bottom is even. The protruding free edges of the remaining tubes must be used in the side parts of the basket for weaving the walls.

Basket wall weaving

  • To make the walls of the basket, take square box suitable for size. Prepare glue with newspaper tubes, clothespins. On the sides of the cardboard container, glue two tubes side by side at a distance of about 5-7 centimeters. Also mark the perimeter with newspaper tubes.

  • Start braiding: take a couple paper tubes, glue their ends, as shown in the second photo, they should be perpendicular to the paired newspaper elements. First, slide a couple of tubes of newspaper under the side materials, then lay on top, thread again at the bottom. Hide the ends behind the previous row, fix with glue.

  • The next pair of tubes will be attached in a mirror way: first it is superimposed on top, then it is threaded from below, etc.

  • After you braid the box on all sides, and the desired height of the product is reached, you need to cut off the end of one element in a pair, which was originally attached to the side parts. Insert a newspaper tube with a long edge under each next one so as to hide the “chopped off” tip.

  • When all the free ends of the side elements are stretched out, continue to braid them around the edge of the basket. Hide the short free edges of the newspaper tubes under the previous row, fixing with a small amount of glue. Secure the result with clothespins so that the glue grabs better. When the edges of the basket are ready, attach the bottom, make a lid, handles.

Making pens

  • On both sides at the top edge of the basket at an equal distance from the sides, thread two newspaper tubes. Throw those that remained inside through the wall to the outer end of the elements and go around the strips from above. Repeat similarly with the second pair of tubes.
  • Generously grease the edges of the twisted materials with glue, fasten them together with a clothespin. Wait for the glue base to dry.
  • To hide a sloppy joint, apply a fresh layer of glue and wrap it with another strip of paper. Pens are ready!

We make a cover

  • Take a flat cardboard of the required size, use a clerical knife or other tool to make small holes on the side, as shown in the photo. Insert the tubes into the holes from all sides.

  • Start braiding the edge of the lid, bending one end of the paper element after the other, as seen in the photo: this is how you need to weave the desired number of rows. At the end, the free edges of the tubes are hidden under the lid.

  • Decorate the finished lid as desired with newspaper scraps, French braid, ribbons, decoupage, or other decorative elements.

How to make a large rectangular basket

A large rectangular braid can come in handy in many places: as a container for bed linen or. A step-by-step instruction will help needlewomen to easily repeat the manufacture of a basket, to see with their own eyes the intricacies of newspaper weaving. Baskets and baskets help keep the house organized and decorate the interior, so there are never too many of them. Beautiful braids can be bought at the store, but it is much more profitable to learn how to weave them with your own hands.

  • If you have a couple of free evenings and a pile of any paper, then you can weave a basket not only without financial losses, but also in the size, color and shape you need. And weaving baskets with your own hands is a very pleasant and peaceful process that you can do, for example, while watching your favorite movie.

And do not be embarrassed that the baskets are not made of wicker or rattan, because if everything is done correctly, then outwardly home-made baskets from old papers will not differ from real wickerwork. Of course, they will not be so durable and moisture resistant, but, nevertheless, they are ideal for storing most things.

For beginner craftswomen, we have prepared step by step master class on weaving such a rectangular basket made of craft paper with leather handles. And at the end of the article you can see some ideas for using baskets. different forms and sizes.

Basket weaving tutorial for beginners

In this master class, we will talk about how to learn how to weave a rectangular, square or round paper basket.

For work we need:

  • Kraft paper - you can take baking paper, several paper bags, wrapping paper, pages of newspapers, magazines, etc .;
  • 2 identical bases made of heavy cardboard or fiberboard, cut out in a square or rectangular shape - you can choose cardboard if you just want to weave a simple basket for storage only, and if you like the idea of \u200b\u200ba basket-tray, like in this tutorial, then use fiberboard size 24 ×38 cm, 2.5 mm thick.

Important: if you want to weave a basket with higher walls than in our tutorial, then you will need some kind of auxiliary template, for example, a shoe box. The template will help you weave a basket of the correct rectangular shape. The cardboard base in this case should correspond to the size of the box.

  • Wooden skewer for barbecue or thin knitting needle;
  • Scissors;
  • Any glue for paper and stronger glue, for example, Moment, as well as double-sided tape;
  • Water-based clear matt acrylic lacquer in spray or can;
  • Long narrow leather belt(preferably in size XL);
  • 8 brass cap nuts, 8 brass flat head Phillips screws, 8 brass washers (sold in hardware stores, the whole set of fasteners will cost you about 70 rubles);
  • An electric drill or an awl to make holes in a leather belt;
  • Marker.

Instruction

Step 1. Making tubes

To do this, you first need to cut the paper into equal formats, for example, A4 or A5. Suppose you have chosen old newspapers for making baskets that already have the size we need. Next, we need to cut the newspaper pages into strips - future tubes. Here's how to do it quickly:

  • Unfold the newspaper completely, then fold it in half lengthwise and smooth the fold.
  • Now take a kitchen or stationery knife and cut the newspaper at the fold. It is desirable that the cut points are even and not frayed.
  • From the resulting stack of paper, separate half, bend it lengthwise and cut it again. You will get strips about 10 cm wide. Now follow the same procedure with the remaining stack of paper.
  • Next, sort those strips that have light edges without text and pictures - it is from these strips that you will get tubes white color. They are more convenient for work, because they are easier to paint under a rattan or a vine. But this does not mean that colored stripes cannot be used, it is simply advisable to pre-coat the tubes twisted from them with light paint, or paint them more densely (we will talk about the nuances of painting a little later).
  • So, we begin to twist the tubes. Put a wooden skewer on the very edge of the strip (but not on the white one!) at a minimum (!) angle and try to tightly and tightly wind paper onto it (photos 1 and 2). At first, this can be done on the table, turning the skewer and holding the paper, and when you reach the middle of the tube, you can lift it up and continue twisting.

When you have only the tip left, you need to slightly grease it with glue and only then screw it to the end (photo 3). Voila, the first pipe is ready! It remains only ... to wind another 100-500 of these tubes (the exact number depends on the size of the basket). Don't be afraid, it's not that difficult and long, but patience won't hurt here.

Who wants to learn all the subtleties of the art of making tubes, we suggest watching a video lesson from Elena Tishchenko.

So, we have learned the basic way to make tubes from newspapers. However, let's get back to the instructions.

  • In this master class, the decorator first wound only 24 tubes from kraft paper strips (7x45 cm in size), and then about 120 more tubes (from 7x90 cm strips). Why did he do it? Read on.

Step 2. Making the frame

Next, we need to make the frame of the basket. To do this, we take a base made of cardboard or hardboard and, using double-sided tape or glue, attach the tubes to it, keeping the same interval between them (2-5 cm). You should end up with roughly the same design as in the photo below, but the exact number of tubes depends on the size of your base and the spacing you choose.

  • These tubes are called vertical posts, as they will later "stand" and serve as the frame of the future basket.

  • As conceived by the decorator, the main weaving of the basket should be deliberately rough, so thicker tubes were used for the walls. However, these 24 standpipes are made thin to make them easier to braid later on. You can repeat the designer's technique, or you can weave a basket from the same tubes.
  • If desired, the base of cardboard or fiberboard can be pre-upholstered with a fabric, such as linen.

Step 3. We start weaving

The base is ready, which means it's time to start weaving! There are a lot of weaving methods, we propose to master the most elementary - “rope”.

  1. Bend the tube in half and wrap it around any vertical tube-rack (you can start from anywhere);
  2. Then cross the ends of the tube as shown in the photo below. You will have the first loop.

  1. Then wrap the second upright and cross the ends again. You will get the first eight.
  2. Continue weaving until the horizontal tubes run out. As soon as this happens, drop a little PVA glue inside each and insert new tubes to a depth of 2-3 cm (their tips can be bent a little).
  3. Thus, you need to weave 7 rows if you want to make a low basket, as in our master class.

  • If you want to weave a basket with higher walls, then after the first two or three rows you need to use a template box and weave already around it. At the same time, weaving should be periodically corrected - aligning the racks, compacting the woven rows, etc. For convenience, the racks can be fixed in a vertical position with clothespins, as shown in the picture on the right. By the way, if you want to weave a round basket, then a pot, a round box, a planter, etc. will fit as a template.

Step 4. We finish weaving

Finally, we completed the last row, trimmed and corrected everything, and took out the box template. Now we need to finish the job nicely. To do this, we simply cut the horizontal tubes with which we wove the walls, leaving only 5-10 cm from their length, and hide the ends inside the weave (left photo below).

Alright, now let's get to the racks. You can simply cut them off by smearing the edges a little with glue or make a simple but beautiful edging:

  • Bend the first upright 90 degrees and braid it behind the adjacent upright on the right, then out along the outside of the third upright. And finally hide behind it and glue it. Repeat with the next upright and all the others.

Step 5. Lubricate with varnish

Hooray! The basket is almost ready, it remains only to cover it with varnish. This tutorial uses spray acrylic lacquer, but you can go over your braid with a brush.

  • If desired / necessary, the basket can be painted before applying varnish, but it is best to paint the tubes before weaving begins - this way the coating will turn out to be of better quality. Ideal for painting acrylic paints water-based, they will give the paper density and dry quickly. For more information about staining newspaper tubes, see the next video tutorial from Elena Tishchenko.

Step 6 Attaching the Handles

  1. Cut off the buckle and the end with holes from the belt. Then cut the middle part of the belt into two equal parts. Here's what you should get.

  1. On the wrong side of the resulting tapes, use a marker to mark the location of 2 screws at each end of the two strips.

  1. Use an electric drill, an awl, or just a nail to make holes in the ribbons at each mark (8 holes in total).

  1. On the front side of the tape, place a washer on the hole made, screw the screws into them with a screwdriver.

  1. Next, attach the handles to the outside of the basket. Each fixing screw must then enter between two rows of weaving as shown in the next right photo. Then, from the inside of the basket, screw the end caps onto each of the 8 screws.

Today we will show you how to make a decorative cardboard basket. This craft can be a great interior decor or original decoration table! You can add a small bouquet of flowers to the basket, it can also be used as a basket for Easter eggs.

So, let's prepare the following materials for work:

A cardboard box or a few leaves of ordinary cardboard of any desired shade;
- glue gun with a rod;
- scissors;
- a simple pencil;
- ruler.

Step 1
First we need to unfold the box, cutting all the glued sections. Cut off the excess pieces of cardboard base.

As a result, we will get something like this.

We level all its sides with a ruler and scissors.

The width of each strip should be approximately 1.5-2 cm.

Step 3
We cut the workpiece according to the intended with a simple pencil lines. We cut out 25-30 such details.

Step 4
Now that all the details are ready, let's start assembling the basket. Let's start weaving from the bottom. We take the first five strips, and lay them out, as shown in the photo.

Step 5
Then we will prepare five more such strips. We place the first part between the strips of the first tier.

Weave in the remaining three strips.

We move all the strips as close as possible to form a dense surface.

Step 6
After that, the corner parts of the bottom must be glued so that the structure does not lose its shape.

The bottom of the basket is ready!

Step 7
Now we start weaving the sides. To do this, bend all the details of the bottom inward.

Step 8
We take one strip, put a drop of hot glue on its tip and attach it to any corner strip from the inside and begin to draw the part between the strips.

At the corners of the basket we bend the strip as follows.

When the strip ends, glue the next part to its tip.

When the four sides are ready, fix the tip of the tape with glue, and cut off the excess length.

The first row is done!

We continue weaving the walls, periodically increasing the length of the strips.

Step 9
Soon we will have such a basket.

It is very easy to complete its weaving! We bend the ends of the upper strips inward crafts. Next, apply a little glue to their inner side and glue them to the wall.

The edge of the basket has acquired a more complete look. The craft is almost ready, it remains only to process inside and attach the handle. To do this, cut the required number of short strips 5-6 cm long.

After we glue them to the inside of the sides.

Step 10
We also create the bottom of the craft and glue it.

Then we cut four more strips 7-7.5 cm long. We glue the first pair of parts to two opposite sides.
